Character education Update- elementary

IT'S RESPSONSIBILITY MONTH FOR  THE STUDENTS AT PEAK TO PEAK!

The elementary had it's first courage to stand workshop.  Story teller, Susan Marie, came and did a program called : Bullies Beware.  The children heard folk tales with peaceful conflict resolution.  Students grades 3-5 were then given the opportunity to write their own folk tales to submit to a contest.  All folk tales should involve peaceful conflict resolution.  Winners will have their books "published", placed in the library for display, and will visit a k-2 classroom to read and share their stories.

The elementary students will also be participating in the school-wide food drive.  A high school student will be paired up with elementary classes to help with this endeavor.  Please discuss the value and importance of this activity with your child at home.

At the end of this month each class will be holding their character celebration. Hopefully this is an opportunity to launch a discussion about important individuals from history we can remember and respect for their character.  Each child should be dressing as a noteworthy individual and should know a bit about his or her accomplishments.

On October 22nd the elementary students will gather in the gym for a "Kids Helping Kids Assembly".  This is a launch off for our UNICEF project.  This should be a very meaningful activity, it's empowering for children to see they can make a difference.
