Service

Service can be described in many ways. In the routine of the day's work, many opportunities arise to help others. Willingness to work for the benefit of those in need, without monetary compensation or without recognition, is the quality we seek in our membership.

"The service we render others is really the rent we pay for our room on Earth. It is obvious that man is himself a traveler; that the purpose of this world is not `to have and to hold' but `to give and serve.' There can be no other meaning."
--Sir Wilfred T. Grenfell

"Service... Giving what you don't have to give. Giving when you don't need to give. Giving because you want to give."
--Damien Hess

"Small service is true service while it lasts:
 Of humblest Friends, bright Creature! scorn not one;
 The Daisy, by the shadow that it casts,
 Protects the lingering dew-drop from the Sun."
--Wordsworth, To a Child
