Peak to Peak Chapter of the

National Junior Honor Society

What:  The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship.  Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Who: Any student in the seventh, eighth, or ninth grade who has a cumulative grade point average* of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (i.e. non-weighted) and has been a student at Peak to Peak for at least one full semester.**

When:  Fall Induction Ceremony, monthly meetings (7:20 am), chapter service projects as scheduled, individual service projects as scheduled.

How:  All interested students should submit a Request for Consideration information form by the deadline posted at the beginning of each school year to the chapter adviser.  If selected, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA, as well as attend meetings, participate in chapter service projects, and complete individual service hours to meet the chapter’s requirements.

More information:  Contact Ms. Saporito at  kim.saporito@bvsd.org or  at 303-453-4747.

*To determine cumulative GPA simply add up points for each semester grade you have received in grades 6 - 8. An A is worth 4 points, a B is worth 3 points, and a C is worth 2 points. When you have the total, simply divide by the total number of semester grades given. This is your non-weighted GPA.

**The one semester residency rule may be waived for a NJHS member who transfers from another school and brings a letter from the former principal to the Peak to Peak advisor.  In this case, the student shall automatically be accepted as a member in the Peak to Peak chapter.
