PROGRAMS/CLASSES ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES:

 

UNIV. OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RESIDENTIAL SEMINARS:  20 seminars taught by USC instructors, 4 weeks.  Visit www.usc.edu/summer  or see the file in the Counseling Center.

 

MOUNT HOLYOKE/TAKE THE LEAD PROGRAM:  For young women to develop leadership skills, a 2-week residential program.  Call 413-538-3500 or visit www.mtholyoke.edu/summeraction.

 

TUFTS UNIVERSITY SUMMER PROGRAM IN FRENCH ALPS:  Summer study abroad, June 28-July 26, 2008.  Contact 617-627-3290 or see the file in the Counseling Center.

 

BOSTON UNIVERSITY SUMMER CHALLENGE PROGRAMS:  For highly motivated high school students to take courses while residing on campus.  Visit www.bu.edu/summer/highschool or see file in the Counseling Center.

 

COLORADO COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAMS:  A wide variety of courses for high school students using the unique CC block plan.  Visit www.coloradocollege.edu/summerprograms  or see brochure in Counseling Center.

 

UNIV. OF NOTHERN COLORADO LEADERSHIP ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:  For current 10th and 11th graders, this is due March 21.  Register at www.unco.edu./cebs/sep  Each session is about 2 weeks.

 

SUMMER DISCOVERY:  Offers courses, internships, language immersion, and community service programs on multiple college campuses including east coast, west coast, and overseas.  Large program, you can request a catalog at summerfun.com or call 1-800-645-6611.  One brochure is on file in the Counseling Center for students/parents to peruse.

 

 

 

THE JUNIOR STATESMEN SUMMER PROGRAM:  Offered on 4 campuses, emphasizes politics and debate.  3 week programs at Georgetown, Princeton, Yale, and Stanford are available.  Visit www.jsa.org or see brochure in the Counseling Center.

 

QUANTUM LEARNING NETWORK:  Offers SuperCamp, a lifeskills and learning camp held at eight colleges.  For students grades 4-12, it is designed to raise confidence and motivation.  Visit www.SuperCamp.com.

 

 

COLLEGE AND CAMPUS TOURS:

 

PRINCETON REVIEW COLLEGE DISCOVERY EXPERIENCE:  An intensive 2-week college admissions/test prep. experience combined with campus visits and tours.  Call 1-800-645-6611 or visit summerfun.com.

 

COLLEGE VISITS:  A series of 1 week tours in US and Canada to a variety of colleges/universities.  Each tour is organized in an area and includes campus tours, meetings with representatives, and staying on campuses.  Intended to help student with college selections and evaluations.  Visit www.campus-visits.com or call 1-800-944-2798.

 

 

STUDENT TRAVEL:

CAREER EXPLORATION:

 

NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM:  Forum’s that offer hands-on career experience/exploration in Law, Medicine, or National Security.  Most are week long, visit www.nylf.org or see file in Counseling Center.

 

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO HIGH SCHOOL HONORS INTITUTE FOR ENGINEERING:  for current 11th and 12 grade students with 3.0 or better GPA, talent in math and science, and aptitude for Engineering.  A campus experience from July 27-30, 2008.  Information at http://engineering.colorado.edu.hshi, please email name of interested student to robert.mitchell@bvsd.org no later than April 14.

 

 

LEADERSHIP:

CITY OF LAFAYETTE is taking applications for summer employment at www.cityoflafayette.com or at the Resource Office on Public Road.

 

BOULDER COUNTY WORKFORCE is presenting a summer job fair for youth 14-21 on March 4, 3-6 pm at Spice of Life, 5706 Arapahoe Avenue.

 

BOULDER COUNTY YOUTH CORPS is taking applications to earn while improving your community.  Applications are due March 28 and are available in the rack outside of the Counseling Center.
