Family Mentor Program

Welcome to Peak to Peak Charter School!

We are excited that you will be joining our school community! One of the four pillars of Peak to Peak is, “We Welcome Community”.  For this reason we wanted to start a special program to ensure that all families feel welcome and a part of our community!

The Family Mentor Program was developed to help introduce new parents and students to Peak to Peak before the school year begins.  The program is intended to give each incoming family a point of contact for questions and information to make them as comfortable and knowledgeable as possible as they transition to a new school.  To help make your experience of transitioning to Peak to Peak as easy as possible, you will be contacted by an existing family, or Family Mentor, who can serve as a focal point for your general questions.

In August, you will receive a letter in the mail describing the Family Mentor Program.  Your Mentor will contact you after the letter is sent to welcome you to Peak to Peak.  You can feel free to exchange contact information with your Mentor in case questions arise before the start of school.  On the first day of school, there will be a Back to School Coffee/Social to welcome new families.

In the secondary school, new students will also be “linked” with existing students via two student mentoring programs called WEB (middle school) and LINK (high school). You will receive more information about these programs as the school year begins.

In the elementary school, staff and students will ensure that all new students are linked up with classmates to ensure their first day and the transition to a new school is as welcoming and as comfortable as possible.

In addition, Peak to Peak has a Community Social Network that meets several times a semester.  These informal meetings begin with a social component and then address some relevant educational topic.  Occasionally, board members, teachers or administration attend to answer questions and/or exchange ideas with our community.  These meetings are not board meetings and are meant to be social and educational in nature.  Everyone is welcome!

Although we have verified our new family lists with BVSD, there is a possibility of missing a new family.  If you have not been contacted by a Family Mentor, please email our Family Mentor Coordinator, Carolyn Jannsen, carolyn.jannsen@bvsd.org or call her at 303-453-4604.

Thank you for choosing Peak to Peak Charter School – a Public School of Choice!

We look forward to welcoming you personally to Peak to Peak!

Very Truly Yours,

The Family Mentor Team
