Photoelectric Effect Lab 1
- Conduct the three experiments at the bottom of the page.
- For several different wavelengths, record wavelength and stopping
voltage. To find the stopping voltage, first set the voltage high
enough to see current at the top. Then, step the voltage down in
the smallest possible increments until the current drops to zero.
That is the stopping voltage.
- Repeat method above for other materials.
- Plot frequency (c/λ) versus KEmax
(e·Vstop).
- What is the slope of the line? What is the intercept?
- Repeat the plot with a different material. Compare the results.
- Use Excel to help with your graphs.
