PEAK TO PEAK HIGH SCHOOL
TEAM 4TH IN STATE SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
(LAFAYETTE)
– Following a 3rd place finish in the Northern Colorado regional competition
held in March, Lafayette's Peak to Peak Charter School (P2P) High School team
earned a 4th place trophy and coach's plaque in the Colorado State Science
Olympiad Competition, held April 21, 2007, at the Colorado School of Mines in
Golden. This day-long event is held annually, and involves high school and
middle school students competing in a variety of science-based activities,
including written tests, lab work, and testing models of everything from
robotics, to support structures, to airplanes. P2P HS team members garnering
1st place individual event medals were: Yan Li and Ben Morin in
the Ecology event; and Bernadette Hsu and Sarah Rumbley in the
Forensics event. Other P2P team members that participated in many other events,
contributing to the team's 4th place overall finish are: Thomas Cahoon, David
Chen, Jessica Hsu, Chris LaPanse, Shaun McGehan, Ben
Morin, Tim Nguyen, John Prosise, Jasmine Rodenburg, Jacob
Salgado, and Keith Slack. The team is coached by Mr. Adam
DiGiacomo, the Science Department Chair and Biology teacher at P2P.
Perennial Science Olympiad powerhouse Poudre
High School, will continue on to the
National Competition to be held May 18-19 in Wichita, Kansas.
