Peak to Peak High School AP physics experiment

(Lafayette, Colorado) On Monday October 31st the AP physics class at Peak to Peak high school tried out their slingshot project. The project involved designing a slingshot using surgical tubing and trying to figure out how to fire it to hit a target 30 yards away. The target was their teacher, Mr. Goldhaber sitting on a chair. The students did not get to fire the slingshot for range but only to test its properties.  They then used the principles of physics to put together a firing plan to hit the target. This lab combined many areas of physics which the class has been studying. The students were extremely dedicated in preparing their equipment. Clearly the joy of trying out their skills was the drive behind this and the prospect of soaking their teacher was just a bonus!
