PEAK TO PEAK STUDENTS RECEIVE U.S. WILDLIFE AWARD

(LAFAYETTE) – Two Peak to Peak Charter School fifth graders placed 2nd and 3rd in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2007 Colorado Junior Duck Stamp Contest.  Bradleigh Jenkins of Lafayette and Nadya Lyapunova of Erie will be honored at an awards ceremony on May 12, 2007, at the Arvada Center, and their artwork will be on display this summer at The Wildlife Experience in Parker.

This year there were over 580 entries submitted in four age groups.  The winning designs were chosen based upon outstanding representation of the duck, goose or swan and its habitat, as well as creative composition and overall artistic ability.  The fifth grade completed a unit on wetlands, studying waterfowl and conservation, in Samantha Owens’ elementary art class at Peak to Peak.
