Mr. Derek Cole

Mr. Cole has over twenty years of business experience providing financial communications, investor relations and strategic planning counsel to private and public companies in multiple industries.  He is currently President of a strategic advisory firm specializing in investor relations, corporate communications, capital raising support and financial media relations.  Mr. Cole has served on the national Board of Directors of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), the association for the investor relations profession, as well as the Boards of the Colorado BioScience Association and the Colorado BioScience Institute, a non-profit organization focused on science education and workforce development.  At Peak to Peak, Mr. Cole has volunteered in the classroom and served on the Elementary Curriculum Committee.  His two children, a junior and a 4th grader, both attend Peak to Peak.  Outside of volunteering, he enjoys biking, hiking, and rock climbing.

Ms. Colleen Elliot

Mrs. Elliott has over 2 decades of experience developing strategy and organizational effectiveness in the health care space. She earned her B.A. in psychology and M.B.A. from Miami University, Ohio and began her health care career journey, leading nursing homes as a licensed health facility administrator, and developing skills in knowledge transfer strategy at a tech start-up. Her traditional career culminated in several leadership roles for multi-billion-dollar health care providers, leading and developing teams, spearheading innovative learning programs, and aligning strategy with talent and processes to drive positive change in health care. Mrs. Elliott is currently the co-founder of a business that aligns her career path with her values to promote optimal health. She is a devoted parent of two Peak to Peak students (1st grader and 7th grader) and has enjoyed serving at Peak to Peak in the classroom and as a member of the Hiring and Organization Development committee. Mrs. Elliott is a fitness enthusiast, horse and dog owner, and a Colorado-lifestyle lover. She enjoys hiking, biking, skiing and all-time outdoors with family, friends, and pets.

Mrs. Frisbie is a professional volunteer and mom with a varied background.  Service is a very important part of her life.  She has served on the Peak to Peak hiring team for six years, holding the positions of secretary and chair. She has volunteered countless hours and in many capacities at Peak to Peak and she has served on many committees in the past, secular and church-related. Currently, she is a patient volunteer for Hospice, providing companionship and comfort touch. Mrs. Frisbie holds both a B.S. in Kinesiology and a B.A. in Psychology from CU, and following graduation pursued alternative health care as a way to maintain her interest in whole body health while being an Air Force wife. Certified in Massage Therapy, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministries, and Aromatherapy, she currently volunteers her services.  A parent of two Peak to Peak alumni, and proud wife of John, she loves to be with family and friends.  She enjoys hiking with her dogs, reading, travel, and is developing her interests in photography and scuba diving.

Ms. Elizabeth Gable

Mrs. Gable is President/CEO of a software development company she founded which serves the healthcare industries, primarily emergency medical services and trauma.  With a Bachelors in Neuroscience and a Masters in Health Administration from Allegheny College and Lehigh University, respectively, Mrs. Gable served in various administrative and technical capacities in hospitals prior to recognizing an underserved niche and starting her company.  Mrs. Gable currently serves as a founding board member on several local non-profit and foundation boards, and has served in various capacities on City of Lafayette and Peak to Peak committees.   Her roles at P2P for the past fourteen years include several years on the Hiring and Organization Development (HOD) committee, the Volunteer Coordination Team (VCT), the Board of Directors (BOD), as well as many classroom and special project roles.   Mrs. Gable is most passionate about her role as mom to three Peak to Peak students (a Colorado School of Mines sophomore, an 8th grader and 6thgrader) and spouse of twenty two years to Ben, a UC Santa Barbara BSECE graduate, and incredible husband and father.

Ms. Grady draws from an international background, having graduated from the German high school in Cairo, Egypt and the University of Geneva, Switzerland where she graduated with a BA in translation studies (with an emphasis on law and economics). In Switzerland, she worked for AIT, a non-profit umbrella organization of automobile clubs worldwide, organizing conferences around the globe as well as being the German language department lead. For decades, she was also involved in different aspects of her parents’ family business (German bookstore in Cairo and art publishing/photo business). Her passion around cutting-edge education and its accessibility to all learners has guided all of her pro bono work. At Peak to Peak, Ms. Grady has volunteered in classrooms, for our fundraising team, and has served for several years on the Hiring Committee as member and co-chair. Ms. Grady has three children attending Peak to Peak, and loves spending time with her family and two dogs in the great Colorado outdoors.

Mrs. Hyman is a paralegal with 30 years of experience in complex litigation, but now devotes her time to her children, husband, and Peak to Peak.  She is the mother of two Peak to Peak students. Mrs. Hyman serves on the board of BraveHoods.org, a Give-One/Get-One organization that provides comfortable hoodies to children battling cancer and their siblings.  At Peak to Peak, Mrs. Hyman has been a classroom volunteer, a member of the Accountability Committee for many years, serving as its Chair for two of those years, a representative of Peak to Peak to the BVSD Accountability Committee, and she has served on the Peak to Peak Election Committee for many years.  Mrs. Hyman lives in Longmont with her family and enjoys sporting events and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Miller has spent two decades guiding organizations in achieving marketing and communications effectiveness. Her background spans marketing communications, public relations, brand marketing, sales incentive strategies and strategic planning—serving global brands including BMW, Volvo Cars and Chevron. Ms. Miller led client services for a marketing incentives agency that quickly grew to serve a number of premier automotive companies and financial institutions. She managed marketing activities for two Bay Area technology start-ups and gained early training as an associate with Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations firm in San Francisco. Ms. Miller graduated from Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and minor in Spanish. Beyond volunteering at Peak to Peak, she enjoys soccer, skiing, running, yoga and hitting the local trails.

Ms. Kelly Reeser

An original subscriber at Peak to Peak, Ms. Reeser has been involved at the school in many different ways since its inception. As co-chair of the first grant writing committee, she co-authored grant applications that brought in more than $1 million worth of start-up funding and other resources to support staff professional development, literacy initiatives and classroom build-out. Additionally, she served as a co-chair or member of the Hiring and Organizational Development Team since the school’s first year of operation. Prior to becoming Peak to Peak’s Executive Director of Education, Ms. Reeser served as an elected member of the board of directors. In addition to her work at Peak to Peak, Ms. Reeser’s professional background includes working with local and international companies on marketing and business communications. She also served as a consultant with the Colorado Department of Education’s Schools of Choice unit, where she worked with charter schools across the state conducting trainings, grant writing workshops, and school evaluations through the Charter Schools Support Initiative program. Ms. Reeser holds a B.A. in English from the University of Colorado and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.

Mr. Sam Todd

Mr. Todd earned a BS in Economics from Purdue University, an MS in Industrial Relations from Michigan State University, and an MS in Business/Economic Development from Eastern University.  Mr. Todd began his career with Hewlett-Packard Company as a Senior HR Manager for six years in Boise, Idaho.  He then lived and worked in the inner city of Philadelphia doing community development for five years while working at Eastern University as Executive Director of the Adult and Professional Studies Program.  After living in Guatemala for six months, he worked for Global Partners for Development in Atlanta, Georgia doing economic development work in Bangladesh.  Mr. Todd then returned to Indiana to help care for his elderly parents, where he started his career working in schools.  For 11 years he served as Business Manager/CFO for Western Boone Schools, a public school district near Indianapolis.  In 1993, he moved to Fort Collins to become the Director of Operations for Wingshadow, a social services organization with seven programs serving at-risk youth, including an alternative school with the Poudre School District.  He then worked as Corporate Controller for Ultimate Support Systems for three years before joining the Peak to Peak team.  He serves on the board of the Colorado League of Charter Schools (CLCS) and of the board of the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority (CECFA).

Ms. Melissa Christensen

Elementary School Principal

Melissa Christensen is the Elementary School Principal. She graduated from Regis University with high honors earning her  M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. She previously graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Ms. Christensen joined Peak to Peak in 2002, teaching kindergarten, first grade, and third grade before becoming the assistant principal. Some of her favorite things are warm weather and eating homemade cookies. She is an accomplished pianist and flute player, and has served for many years as an advisor in community youth groups.

Middle School Principal

Lori Preston joined Peak to Peak in the fall of 2016. She and her son, a high school Puma, recently returned to the Boulder area after living in Houston for six years. Her near three decades of professional experience includes serving in Texas public schools for over 19 years in the roles of classroom teacher, Director of Year-round Intensives, Elementary School Principal, District Curriculum Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent. Lori is known for her strong leadership in curriculum writing, coordination, management and strategic planning. She moved into the independent school world in 2003, where she served in two different independent schools as their Head of School, leading their stakeholders and faculty through significant accreditation acquisition, expanding their early childhood programs, instituting a soccer academy, increasing enrollment, upgrading facilities and bringing the schools into strong financial standing. The majority of her undergraduate hours are from Kansas State University, where she began her higher education, and graduated cum laude from Lamar University with her Master’s degree in Educational Mid-Management with a Reading Specialization. Recently selected to participate in an institute through the Harvard Graduate School of Education on Mindfulness, Lori demonstrates a lifetime commitment to learning herself.  She has worked with all ages starting in an innovative preschool in Denver to teaching college-level learners as an adjunct professor in Texas. A native Kansan, Lori’s favorite time is spent with her son. She loves music, art, theater, and writing, has traveled all over the world and her extra adventurous spirit includes jumping out of an airplane, climbing, scuba diving, bicycling, playing Padel and tennis.

Mr. Kyle Mathews

High School Principal

Mr. Mathews was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He earned a BA in International Affairs from Lewis and Clark College, and both an MA in History and an Ed.S. (Specialist in Education) degree in Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Colorado at Denver. He pursued studies in international relief and development, and has lived and worked in Senegal and Uzbekistan. Mr. Mathews also served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Colorado at Denver from 2001 to 2007 and was formerly Peak to Peak’s Social Studies Department  Chair and an Advanced Placement (AP) teacher. When not looking after his twins, he is an avid cyclist and back-country skier.
