Monthly Safety Drills
This past week, Peak to Peak practiced our first monthly safety drills across our K-12 campus. We reviewed the process for a Hold, Secure, and Lockdown and then ended with a fire drill.
We encourage all parents and guardians to familiarize themselves with our protocols, safety status terms, and related actions so they know how to respond if any become real situations. Our Safety page is linked at the bottom of every page on our website for quick reference.

Food Services Program Updates
We are nearly two weeks into the roll-out of Colorado's Healthy School Meals for All. This program has resulted in a 65% average increase in student lunch participation and a 263% average increase in breakfast participation!! Our Food Services Team is working hard to fine-tune our serving and checkout processes to ensure that all students can get through the food line efficiently and have time to eat; this is something we are continually monitoring. We are also working to get all nutritional / allergy information posted on the website for the upcoming week by the start of that week. If you have any questions or concerns about allergy or nutritional information, please contact Paula Greenspan, Kitchen Manager (see contact info below).Getting this program rolled out has been a huge lift for our fabulous Food Services Team; they are doing an amazing job of ensuring all students have access to healthy and delicious food!As a reminder, all students are eligible for free breakfasts and lunches under Colorado's Healthy School Meals for All Program, regardless of eligibility for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. If your family applied for the FRL Program and were not approved due to income, your student can still receive a free breakfast and lunch under the state program. If you have questions or concerns about Food Services, please contact:- Elizabeth Begley, Food Services Program Manager, at 303-453-4782 or elizabeth.begley@bvsd.org

Monthly Board Update
Hello Peak to Peak Community,As a board, we have decided to send out a couple of quick bullet points in the Friday digest following our board meetings going forward to recap what we are working on as a board. It is a work in progress and we will be adjusting the information depending on the needs and wants of the community.
Board Corner
BVSD Bond Proceeds - In 2022, Boulder Valley voters approved a $350M bond issue. The Board has had numerous discussions over the last year to determine how to prioritize the School's $10.7 million allocation from that bond issue. At the most recent meeting, the Board discussed the proposed uses, including completing necessary improvements to existing facilities, renovating the performing arts center and renovating existing spaces to meet anticipated programmatic needs. At the September meeting, the Board will discuss a more detailed proposed budget and continue discussion on how to prioritize the bond funds.Board Self Assessment- The board members completed a self-assessment regarding various topics that pertain to board responsibilities, knowledge, involvement, and policy implementation. The board reviewed the results together, which facilitated productive discussion and identified areas in which focus needs to occur.Communication and Continuous Improvements- We're looking at community feedback to make communication more open and effective, from Communication Pathways to the very section of the digest you're reading now. Please keep the feedback coming on how we can more effectively keep you informed about what's going on here at Peak to Peak.Peak Week- The board voted to approve extending Peak Week participation as a graduation requirement for our high school students. This is the same as was approved last year and the pilot has been extended for an additional year and will be revisited again next year.Next Meeting- September 6th at 5:00 pm, Board Corner will be in the digest 9/8. -

Back to School Night Slides
Dear Middle School Families,
For those of you able to join us, thank you for attending our Back-to-School Night this week! It was inspiring to witness so many adults connecting with each other on behalf of our middle schoolers. In response to parent/guardian feedback over the past few years, our goal was to design an event that was responsive to the beginning-of-the-year questions and curiosities we often receive, while also authentically connecting the adults at home with the adults at school. We hope this was the lived experience of those in attendance; from our perspective, our conversations and connections with each of you were authentic and meaningful. Thank you for entrusting us with your middle schooler, and we look forward to nurturing them as a unique human of great potential and promise!
For those unable to attend this event or interested in reviewing the grade-level presentation slides, you may access them below:

7th Grade: BTSN Slides
8th Grade: BTSN Slides
In gratitude,
Clara Quinlan, Middle School Principal

Peak Week Sign Up Reminder
Peak Week Reminder:
Remember to review this presentation with your student(s), discuss which options excite them, and be sure you agree together on the top 8 courses that they will submit on the August 30th survey. While our average course cost is less than last year, we recognize that only a few options are under $500 for 10th-12th graders. This was in response to feedback we received last year and challenges during our registration process to get everyone into their top few choices. If needed, we will always increase most affordable courses and spots as necessary to maintain affordability and student/family desire. We will not place someone in a high-cost course if their top few preferences are all more affordable.
Moving forward, we plan to fully launch Peak Week 2025 this spring, giving families and students nearly a year to be able to plan for their course in which they are placed.
