BVSD Bond Update
As you may know, ELT and the Board of Directors continue to have conversations with BVSD to solidify our plans for the 10.7 million dollars we were awarded through the BVSD Bond.
Our current proposal for our campus projects fall into three big buckets:
-
Building / Land Improvements
-
K-12 Auditorium / Performing Arts Center: Renovation and Remodel
-
Renovation and Remodel of current spaces across campus to meet the needs of our current student body
We recently met with BVSD and our district reps seemed comfortable with the high-level plan outlined above. As a result, we are in the process of documenting a formal proposal that will be shared with BVSD in the near future.
The next phase of our work includes gathering stakeholder input and feedback. We will host forums in the near future where staff and community members can provide input and feedback.
A few points to keep in mind when thinking about the bond and providing feedback:
-
BVSD Bond language restricts our ability to increase the footprint of any building; the funding is intended for infrastructure improvements and building renovations.
-
Peak to Peak improvements must align with the goals and priorities outlined in the bond.
ELT team members are aware that this bond does not address all our campus infrastructure needs. In addition to the bond, we plan to kick off a master planning process in the coming months to set a vision for future capital improvements.
Please feel free to reach out to Jennie Klein or Jen Douglas with any questions.

After School Traffic Reminders
As we wrap up week 3, a few reminders about afternoon pickup:
-
The Peak to Peak staff members helping direct traffic are doing their best to manage a lot of traffic; your kindness and patience is greatly appreciated.
-
All secondary traffic should enter the campus from Emma Street onto Puma Drive, a two-lane one-way entrance. The two lanes work as follows:
-
The right line is a “through” lane that either turns right into the main parking or goes onto the left lane of the north drive to exit on Canterbury Drive (the outgoing road to Emma Street).
-
The left lane turns onto the north drive to pick up students on the sidewalk north of the high school and gymnasiums. If you need to pick up a secondary student, please use the left lane, even though it is typically longer.
-
-
Between 3:10 and 3:30pm, someone will be directing traffic. Please wait for direction before proceeding through the intersection where Puma Drive reaches the school.
-
Once you pull up to the north drive pick up lane, please pull as far forward as possible to keep traffic moving.
-
Please do not use the staff parking lot or handicap parking spaces for pickup and drop off.
-
Our full Traffic and Parking Plan is linked on the website.

Principal Leave Notice
Dear high school students and families,
I want to let you know that starting September 1st, I will be going on temporary medical leave. While I will continue to access phone and email during my absence, I will have limited opportunities for communication. I plan to return to campus later this fall.
While I am on leave, please direct your questions, meeting requests and other matters regarding the high school to Joshua Benson, who will be serving as the interim high school principal. You are also welcome to contact Jennifer Klein, Executive Director of Education. Alison Cross in our front office, and Kelly Osmer in the high school north building Hub office, will be able to schedule your needs accordingly. Mr. Benson, Ms. Klein, and I will consult on a regular basis, and the Executive Leadership Team will be supporting the high school with all safety responsibilities as well as coverage at high school events alongside Mr. Benson.
Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to all of the exciting opportunities we have in the year ahead.
All the best,

Donate Used Shoes to Raise Money for High School Basketball
This information was included in a previous Digest article.
Do you have any shoes that are outgrown, are out of season or are no longer in style? We’re collecting gently used shoes to support our boys and girls basketball teams and we will gladly take them off your hands!
We will have someone out front during pick-up on Friday, September 8th (early release). We also have collection bins in the NE gym and at Jax Farm and Ranch now through October 18th.
The shoes our team collects will be kept out of landfills; they'll be repurposed to support microenterprises in developing nations such as Haiti, Cambodia and Ghana; and the basketball teams receive money for every pound donated!
It's a win/win!
Questions? Feel free to email Sarah Boonstra.
