  • ACADEMIC RECOGNITION

    Peak to Peak High School Ranked a Newsweek Top 100 School: Peak to Peak High School is ranked 49th out of more than 2,500 public high schools that were assessed by Newsweek and The Daily Beast in 2013.

    Peak to Peak was also ranked 10th best in the western states portion of the rankings and #1 in Colorado. 

    Peak to Peak High School #1 in Colorado, #66 Nationally by U.S. News & World

    Peak to Peak's High School Ranked #1 in Colorado: Peak to Peak High School is ranked 66th out of more than 19,400 public high schools in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. The high school is, once again, ranked #1 in Colorado.  In addition, of over 3,000 charter high schools in the nation, Peak to Peak's high school is ranked #18. Congratulations to the entire Peak to Peak community!

    Peak to Peak Charter School Earns the 2013 John Irwin School of Excellence Award: The John Irwin awards are given to schools that demonstrate excellent academic achievement.  On the school performance framework used by the state of Colorado to evaluate schools, these schools “exceed” expectations on the indicator for academic achievement over three years.  For Peak to Peak to receive this award, the expectation must be met at each level of the school, elementary, middle, and high school.  

    Eight Peak to Peak Students Recognized as National Merit Scholar Semi-finalists: Peak to Peak Charter School is pleased to announce that eight seniors have been recognized as semifinalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship competition. These students are:

    • Jaeyeon (Jenny) Seo
    • David Vandermeer
    • Alec Wild

    This recognition is based on PSAT scores from Oct 2012. These students are now eligible to become National Merit Finalists and will compete for scholarships. Peak to Peak congratulates these fine students for their tremendous achievement!

    5280 Magazine Names Peak to Peak One of the Best Front Range High Schools: In the September 2013 issue of Denver's 5280, Peak to Peak's High School is listed as one of 20 schools on the magazine's Front Range Dean's List.  

    176 High School students qualified for AP Scholar Awards: One hundred and seventy-six Peak to Peak High School students qualified for AP Scholar Awards based on their performance on 2014 Advanced Placement (AP) exams.

    2014 National Honor Society: Thirty-one students were inducted into the National Honor Society in 2014

    One hundred percent of graduating seniors matriculate: One hundred percent of 2014 graduating seniors were accepted into a college or university of their choice.

    Over $31 million in scholarships: 2014 graduating seniors were awarded over $31 million in scholarships.

    Peak to Peak had a Boettcher Scholar in 2011, 2012, and 2014:  This is one of the most prestigious scholarship opportunities available to Colorado students.

    Peak to Peak student ACT scores averaged 26.1 in 2014:  Peak to Peak student ACT scores averaged 26.1 in 2014, compared to a 23.5 average in Boulder Valley School District and 20.6 statewide

    FACULTY RECOGNITION

    HS Principal Kyle Mathews Wins 2014 Impact on Education Award: A huge congratulations to High School Principal Kyle Mathews for winning the Impact on Education award for 2014! Mr. Mathews was surprised by the Impact on Education camera crew and staff on January 17, who presented this prestigious award to him amidst thunderous applause from high school staff and students throughout the north building.  

    The Impact on Education Foundation is a highly esteemed program that recognizes people in the Boulder Valley School District who “make an extraordinary impact on student learning through exceptional teaching skills, job dedication, volunteering and/or leadership.” Mr. Mathews is one of five award recipients this year who were chosen from a group of extraordinarily talented nominees throughout the district. Many thanks to English teacher Clara Quinlan for her thoughtful and well-written nomination letter, and to the Impact on Education staff, who read many letters and conducted challenging interviews to select their winners.  

    Peak to Peak has the distinct honor of having several Impact Award winners on staff, including Kurt Schaefer, Clara Quinlan, Mary Campbell and Kristie Letter. Mr. Mathews’ award marks the fifth time that Peak to Peak has been honored with this distinctive award. Mathews will be recognized at an award ceremony on March 19, 2014 at the Boulder Theater.  CONGRATULATIONS, MR. MATHEWS!

    Sam Todd Receives 2014 Charter Friend Award: Sam Todd, Peak to Peak's Executive Director of Operations, was awarded a 2014 Charter Friend Award for Operational Excellence.  This award, presented by the Colorado League of Charter Schools, recognizes a charter school business/operations manager or CFO.  Nominees demonstrate exceptional leadership in and commitment to charter school operational excellence in areas such as finance, human resources, accounting, facilities, etc.  The awardees demonstrate a passion for charter school excellence and growth at large, and are engaged in the Colorado charter school operations management community.
