Reminder: Introducing Peak Week 2.0 — A New Season for Experiential Learning
  • High School

We are excited to share an important update about our Peak Week program — a cornerstone of our experiential learning model that connects classroom learning with real-world exploration. Beginning next school year, Peak Week will take on a new and improved form we’re calling Peak Week 2.0!

Mark your calendars: Peak Week 2.0 will take place October 12–16, 2026.

This shift marks a significant step forward in making Peak Week more sustainable, more accessible, and more impactful for all students and staff.

What’s New in Peak Week 2.0:

  1. Increased Affordability for Students and Families | By moving the program to October, we anticipate lower overall costs than if we continue to do this in the spring  — from travel expenses to activity fees — allowing more students to access a broader range of experiences. Improved weather predictability also opens the door to more affordable local outdoor learning opportunities.
  2. Increased Sustainability for Staff | When surveyed, nearly 50% more staff leaders preferred a fall timing over spring. This new schedule supports long-term staff sustainability by allowing staff to plan for the following year with fresh insights from their most recent experience.
  3. Continued Focus on Meaningful Learning | Peak Week 2.0 maintains its strong curricular connections while expanding opportunities for grade-level experiences that complement classroom learning:
  • 9th grade students will benefit from an early bonding and learning experience that sets a positive tone for the year. Peak Week will now take the place of a 9th grade fall trip and thus reduce costs to families and minimize time outside of the traditional classroom for our 9th graders.
  • 10th grade students will see their Sophomore Day of Service integrated into Peak Week, deepening the connection between service, reflection, and learning.
  • Juniors and Seniors will experience their capstone-style courses earlier in the school year — offering valuable learning, insights, and experiences to include in college applications and facilitating fall campus visits for families that need that additional flexibility to make a final decision on a best-fit college.

Why Move to October?

As our program has grown, holding Peak Week in the spring has presented increasing challenges — from unpredictable early-spring weather and rising travel costs to the varying timing of Spring Break. Moving to fall creates a more stable, affordable, and inclusive structure for everyone involved. Additionally, October offers:

  • Better weather for outdoor learning experiences
  • Improved flight and lodging availability
  • Stronger community connections earlier in the school year
  • Fewer instructional disruptions later in the year

Looking Ahead

We’re thrilled about what Peak Week 2.0 represents: a renewed commitment to hands-on learning, community connection, and educational innovation. More detailed information about course offerings, logistics, and grade-level experiences will be shared later this school year.

Thank you for your continued support of experiential education at Peak to Peak. We can’t wait to embark on this next chapter of Peak Week — together.

Sincerely,

Josh Benson, High School Principal
