Reminder: Navigating Food Allergies and Preferences in the Lunch Room
  • All School News

Our Food Services team works hard to share accurate allergen information and help families keep students safe during breakfast and lunch. If your child has a food allergy, please:

  • Update Student’s Records: Make sure your student’s allergy is listed in Infinite Campus and their lunch account by updating this information each year. If you did not already do this during the annual SchoolMint update, you should email p2p.healthroom@bvsd.org.
  • Check the Food Services Menus Regularly: Daily menus are posted under Quick Links on our website and in the PeaktoPeak mobile app
  • Review Allergen Info: Food Services maintains a detailed  Nutritional Information document found on our website (Student Life>Food Services>Nutritional Information). While this document is updated regularly, there are times that a vendor may substitute an item or provide incomplete information.

At school, allergen signs like the one pictured here are posted near all major menu items. Please work with your child at home to help them identify their allergens on the signs and practice asking, “I’m allergic to ___. What is safe for me to eat?” Staff can help point out allergens listed on signs, but cannot guarantee which foods are safe for each student based on their unique needs.

Important: While we do our best to share accurate allergen information, we cannot guarantee that meals are completely free from specific allergens or cross-contamination. Students with severe or life-threatening (anaphylactic) allergies are strongly encouraged to bring a lunch from home.

For students with dietary preferences (vegetarian, halal, etc.), no record in Infinite Campus is needed, but please review menus together at home and encourage your student to ask about options in the lunch line.
