Reminder: Screen Time & AI: Engagement Opportunity

In response to feedback from the 2026 Family Survey, thoughtful engagement with screen time and artificial intelligence (AI) has been identified as a key focus this school year. Given the breadth of this work, we will begin with screen time, and by the end of the 2026–27 school year, we aim to clarify and communicate age-appropriate expectations for screen time and AI use across all grade levels at school.

At Peak to Peak, we believe learning is grounded in human connection, purposeful practice, and a strong sense of community. We prioritize inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and face-to-face interaction to develop the skills students need for long-term success. While technology can support learning, it cannot replace the stamina, creativity, dialogue, practice, and productive struggle required for confidence and mastery. For this reason, screen use is intentionally limited and purposeful at Peak to Peak. Our goal is to ensure technology supports healthy development and strengthens, rather than replaces, meaningful learning experiences and relationships.

We invite families to be active partners in this work. This fall, we will offer two initial opportunities for parents and guardians to engage directly with principals, ask questions, provide feedback, and share their experiences with the benefits and challenges of screen use both at school and at home. We hope you will join us for these conversations as we work together to develop thoughtful, age-appropriate expectations that support our students and reflect our community's needs. Additional opportunities to discuss AI will be shared in a future Weekly Digest.

• Tuesday, September 8th, 5:00-5:45 PM in the College Counseling Center (6-12 focus)
• Can’t attend? There will be online and asynchronous ways to engage in the near future.
