Mr. Scott Franzblau

Scott is excited to join Peak to Peak’s leadership team as he begins his 19th year in education. His professional journey spans three distinct careers—farming, carpentry, and education—each tied together by a passion for meaningful work and collaboration to build what the world needs. Originally from the Jersey Shore, Scott first discovered his love for purposeful work during a summer-long trail crew project with the Student Conservation Association in Colorado’s Weminuche Wilderness. That experience set him on a path beyond New Jersey.

He began college at Rutgers, studying Environmental Policy and Ecology, but soon caught "the farming bug." He helped start a vegetable farm in New Hampshire (still thriving today) and transferred to the University of New Hampshire, completing a degree in Plant Biology while working year-round on farms. Scott soon shifted to carpentry, learning the trade hands-on while working with close friends and mentors. On his final job—building a house on a small island in Maine—he met his wife, Hanna, which eventually brought him to Denver.

In 2006, Scott became curious about charter schools and excellent educational models, leading him to complete a teacher apprenticeship at an Expeditionary Learning school in Massachusetts. He began teaching in Denver in 2008 and has since taught middle and high school Math and Science, served as a middle school principal, and held leadership roles at DSST: Cedar, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school. In 2017, he received DSST’s “Do Your Best” award. Scott holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Massachusetts and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Regis University. Most recently, he served as Dean, Associate School Director, and School Director in Training at DSST: Cedar.

Outside of school, Scott enjoys life with his wife Hanna (a school social worker) and their two sons, Bjorn (11) and Vasa (10). Together, they love skiing, scootering, soccer, camping, watching sports and comedy, and visiting family in Maine, New Jersey, and Sweden. Ultimately, Scott’s careers share a common thread: building something meaningful with great people. He’s thrilled to bring this spirit to the students, staff, and families of Peak to Peak.
