Ms. Emily Tweten

Mrs. Tweten was born and raised in southern California. She attended Regis University in Denver with a Major in English and Sociology. In her youth, she loved to be active by running track and cross country, and playing basketball and lacrosse. After college, she stayed in Denver to work as a residential treatment counselor serving young children in out-of-home placements. She always dreamed of working in a school, and thus, went back to school to pursue a career in school counseling. She received her degree in Counseling-Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Denver. In the beginning of her career, she worked as both a high school and elementary counselor in Brighton 27J. When a position opened up at the school her children attended in Broomfield, she made the switch to BVSD. She loves working in diverse communities and is excited to get to know students and families this year at Peak to Peak. She has a passion for helping students recognize their own strengths and use these strengths to problem solve and achieve their goals personally and academically. She has two children and a partner with whom she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, crafting/creating, and all types of outdoor adventures.
