Elementary Library

A well-stocked library with rows of bookshelves, tables, and chairs, creating a cozy and inviting space for reading and studying.

Welcome!

The elementary library's curriculum supports the Standards for the 21st Century Learner. Specifically, information literacy learners use skills, resources, and tools to:

  • Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge.
  • Draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge.
  • Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society.
  • Pursue personal and aesthetic growth.

Each homeroom class visits the Library on a weekly basis on their designated library day. Students have access to fiction and non-fiction materials. Library lessons include lessons on website evaluation, citation, and using databases for research. K-5 classes compare and contrast fiction and nonfiction books with emphasis on understanding the parts of a nonfiction book.
