Welcome to Peak to Peak! We are so excited you're here. Between now and May, you will receive a monthly newsletter from us with information and action items to ensure you and your child are ready to join us in the Fall. This newsletter, and all future newsletters, can be found on the New Families Page (this page!) of our website.

New Student Information:

Shortly after you accepted your offer of enrollment, you should have received a welcome letter from our Registrar, Vicki Newsome, that includes important information about completing enrollment at Peak to Peak. Be sure to complete all of the steps in this letter to finalize your enrollment.

Friends of Peak to Peak

Friends of Peak to Peak (often called “Friends”) is a nonprofit organization that works in partnership with parent volunteers and school leadership to support the life of our school. Think of the Friends office as a helpful connector — sharing ways for families to engage, build community, and support Peak to Peak through time, talent, and treasure as you settle in.

Throughout the year, you’ll hear about community events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to connect with other Puma families. One of our favorite traditions is coming up soon: the annual Peak Gala on Friday, March 27th, at the Omni Hotel in Broomfield.

This year’s theme, “The Pumas,” is an Oscars-inspired evening celebrating the “stars” of our community — and that includes you! The night features dinner, lively entertainment, a silent and live auction, and time to connect with fellow Peak to Peak families and supporters. Tickets can be purchased online, and new families are warmly invited to join the “2026 New Families” table when selecting your dinner seating. It’s a great way to meet others and jump right into our community.

Social Media:

Peak to Peak has a parent Facebook group for each grade level that we encourage all parents to join. This is a great place to connect with other parents before school begins and throughout your time at Peak to Peak. Use it to arrange playdates, ask questions, and get involved.

The Peak to Peak Website (www.peaktopeak.org):

The Peak to Peak website is your go-to resource for school information. On the homepage, you’ll find “Quick Links” to many commonly used pages, and we encourage you to explore the Parent/Guardian Hub, which houses calendars, bell schedules, safety information, handbooks, forms, and more. We’ve worked to make it easy to find what you need, all in one place.

New families will receive instructions in late July or early August to activate their website account — no action is needed now. The only password-protected section is the Community Directory, which includes student and family contact information and is updated in August.

School Calendars:

The 2026-27 school year calendar has been approved by our Board and can be found in the Parent/Guardian hub of the website. We strongly encourage you to add any holidays and days off to your calendar, which you can easily do using the links at the top of that page (available in Google and iCal formats). The school day begins at 7:55 for all students, except on Wednesdays, when school starts at 8:55. Elementary releases every day at 3:05 and secondary is dismissed at 3:15.

If you have a student in elementary school, you may also find the grade-level calendars helpful. These include grade-specific information like field trips, library day, class pictures, and more. You can add these to your own calendar as well, using the Google or iCal links on each page. Mobile App:

Peak to Peak also offers a free mobile app (search “PeaktoPeak” in your app store) that makes it easy to stay connected on the go. Through the app, you can quickly access calendars, food service menus, the Weekly Digest, and our staff and community directories (login required). You’ll also find direct links to bell schedules, reporting an absence, student handbooks, Safe2Tell, and more — all in one convenient place.

King Soopers Loyalty Cards:

One way you can start supporting our school right now is with your King Soopers loyalty card. When you link your King Soopers loyalty card to Peak to Peak, a percentage of all your shopping gets donated to our school at no cost to you! Sign up here.

• February 4th at 5 PM, Virtual Board of Directors Meeting. All Board meetings are open to the public and can be attended in person or virtually. Use the following link to join the Zoom. Visit the website for board meeting agendas
• February 5th at 7 PM / February 6th at 7 PM / February 7th at 2 and 7 PM: Middle School Theater Production of Mary Poppins Jr. in the Auditorium. This production is open to all ages, so come support our cast and crew of over 90 students. General Admission is $10
• February 10th at 6 PM: Gala Concert
• March 2nd at 4 PM: Middle School Placement Assessments (required for all new students) & Parent/Guardian Presentation with Principals
  • Students will complete placement assessments in person in our College Counseling Center (upstairs in the north building) to determine their course placement for the following year. Parents/guardians are invited to Principal Connection Time in the cafeteria while their student assesses, beginning at 4:15 pm.

In this month’s newsletter, we’re introducing you to the different ways to get involved at Peak to Peak, sharing the elementary homeroom placement form, and highlighting upcoming events for our incoming families.

If you were just accepted to Peak to Peak, this is a monthly newsletter we send from February through May to ensure you and your student are ready to join us in the Fall. You may want to take a look at the February newsletter we shared last month to get caught up.

Elementary Homeroom Placement Procedure Form for 2026/2027 (for rising 1st - 4th graders only)

Soon, our staff will begin creating homeroom lists for next year. It is our goal at Peak to Peak to balance homeroom classes based on students’ academic, behavioral, and social strengths and needs. Decisions regarding student room assignments will be made collaboratively among the current teachers, special program teachers, and administration. Current needs, special factors, and previous situations are taken into account to best inform class placement for the following year. Lists are created, revised, and reviewed multiple times before they are finalized in August. This process is taken very seriously by staff members, and a significant amount of time is spent working to create favorable outcomes for students and teachers the following year.

If you would like to provide input for your child's homeroom class placement, please complete this input form by Friday, April 10, 2026.

Volunteering:

For over 20 years, the generous contributions of our community members’ time and talents have been an important cornerstone of Peak to Peak's success. We encourage all community members to participate in our many K-12 volunteer opportunities!

In order to volunteer at our school, you must become an approved Peak to Peak volunteer. Once approved, you can volunteer at Peak to Peak until your youngest Puma graduates! The volunteer approval process includes a background check and fingerprinting, and takes a minimum of 2 weeks for the school to receive your results. This is one thing you can take care of now, so you have one less thing to worry about in the Fall! Print the volunteer paperwork (or pick up a copy from the Main Office) to get started on the process! (Descargue e imprima los documentos en Español.)

Volunteer options are posted regularly on the Volunteer page of the website, in the Weekly Digest, and on Puma Pete’s Community Group Facebook page.

Communications at Peak to Peak:

Peak to Peak strives to provide streamlined communications to parents and guardians to keep you informed. These monthly newsletters are a way to keep you connected until you are added to our general mailing list and receive all regular communications from the school. These communications include:

• Weekly Digest- This is a comprehensive communication that contains everything you need to know about upcoming events, announcements, action items, engagement opportunities, etc. It is a web-based newsletter so you can view it at any time, and can also go back to see if there’s anything you missed. It’s broken down into All School News, level-specific news (elementary, middle, and high) and student celebrations, so you can read what’s important to you without being overwhelmed. You’ll get an email and text notification every Friday when it goes ‘live’!

• Elementary Newsletters- Your student’s homeroom teacher sends out a weekly communication specific to their classroom every Friday. In this, you will find grade-level announcements for the upcoming week, such as classroom information, field trips, and classroom volunteer opportunities. It’s important to still read the Weekly Digest as these two communications won’t often overlap!
• High School Counseling Updates- All High School students and families receive an additional communication on Tuesdays. In those, you will find counseling-specific information about community service opportunities, college visit information, FAFSA resources, and more. This is your go-to resource for college planning and preparation.

At Peak to Peak, you may hear us reference the Communication Framework. A group of parents and staff worked together to establish this framework as a guide for effective, respectful, and efficient conversations when issues arise. You may periodically receive reminders about the Communication Framework in our Weekly Digest. Keep in mind that when you are seeking information or answers to questions, we always welcome dialogue with any member of our community.

This month’s newsletter includes information to help you get a head start on paperwork that will need to be submitted before your student starts school in August. Some of this will be included in the registration emails sent during the summer, but we know some families like to plan ahead, so we are providing it here as well.

Transportation Options:

• Morning Only Bus Transportation Are you considering Peak to Peak’s morning bus service next year? The registration link will be open for the 2026-27 school year on April 10, 2026. Keep in mind that currently participating families are given priority over new riders when registration opens. We will be offering a new morning route for Broomfield and the Coal Creek Trails neighborhood. The 2026-27 Bus Routes schedule is subject to change, but only minorly. If there are more students than seats available, we will run a lottery, the date of which will be emailed to all who have registered for the overly full route. If you aren’t first chosen, you will be placed on a waiting list.
• Carpool Database Peak to Peak uses a database called "WaytoGo." All of our families are included; families who wish to have their information omitted should complete the SchoolPool Opt-Out Form. By being included, you are allowing "WaytoGo" to share your information with other Peak to Peak families who live near you for carpooling purposes. There is no obligation to carpool; it is for informational purposes only. If you choose to opt out of the database for the 26-27 school year, please fill out the Opt-Out Form by Tuesday, May 12th.

• Public Transportation There is an RTD bus stop on the west end of campus near the intersection of Merlin Drive and Spaulding Street. Please visit the RTD website for routes and information.

Sports Physicals:

Sports Physicals must be completed and submitted each year for any student who intends to participate in athletics. As of 2025, only the official CHSAA form can be accepted. We cannot accept other forms of documentation from your physician.

Health Room Policies:

The Peak to Peak Health room is dedicated to your student's care and needs during the school day. BVSD requires students to be vaccinated against many of the diseases vaccines can prevent, unless a Certificate of Exemption is filed. Visit the Immunizations page for a list of K-12 school-required Immunizations and forms. 

The Peak to Peak Health room is required to follow the BVSD Medications in School Guidelines. Medications in school are not allowed without proper documentation, including the use of inhalers and epi-pens. Please visit our Medications in School page for more information and required forms. 

Summer Camp & Before and After School Care Registrations:

Champions, our before and after school care provider, is offering a Summer Champ Camp at Prospect Ridge Academy for all 5-12 year old students. Registration and information about Summer Enrollment is now available.

Registration for Before & After Care for the 2026-27 school year is now open! Visit the Champions website for more information and to register. Pricing information can be found here. Upcoming Events:

• April 10th, Elementary Homeroom Placement Procedure Form Due (for rising 1st - 4th graders only). If you would like to provide input for your child's homeroom class placement, please complete this input form.

• April 16th at 5:30-7:00 pm, in the Cafeteria, Kindergarten Readiness Workshop (Parents/Guardians only) Designed to introduce you to kindergarten at Peak to Peak, including topics such as typical schedules, helpful tips for student preparation, and overviews of entry-level expectations. You will get to meet and work with the kindergarten teachers, see the classrooms, and receive additional support materials.

• April 21st at 6 pm, in the Cafeteria, Transition to High School Parent/Guardian Night (for families of incoming freshmen).  The High School Counseling Team will be hosting the annual "Introduction to High School" evening. We will review graduation requirements, talk about trends in college admissions, talk about the partnership between you and the high school team, discuss our overnight field trip, Peak Week, and answer any questions you may have. We highly encourage all current 8th grade families to attend.
• April 23rd-24th at 7:00-10:00 pm, in the Auditorium, High School Spring Theatre Production of Mean Girls. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Student tickets are $5, general admission tickets are $10.
• May 1st at 5 pm, in the auditorium and cafeteria, Latin Noche Cultural. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is proud to present our first Cultural Night: a vibrant celebration of the traditions, food, history, music, and diversity of Hispanic and Latino cultures at Peak to Peak. Admission is free!

• Peak to Peak's Curriculum is designed from the ground up for graduates to meet or exceed the entrance requirements of top colleges and universities. New Family Welcome Team

The Friends of Peak to Peak office partners with all our K-12 Puma families to support our students and teachers while also building strong relationships within our community. Consider us your liaison to help you navigate the many ways your family can be connected with Peak to Peak in a way that is significant and meaningful to you. Our New Family Welcome Team is a treasured 20+ year tradition we have at Peak to Peak.  This annual tradition matches up new families with current families to help provide information about the school, answer any questions, and generally help ensure your family's smooth transition into our community. We have many current families who are excited to meet you! Over the summer, you will be contacted by a veteran Peak to Peak family who will provide information about upcoming events (including a new family meet-and-greet), volunteer opportunities, and much more. If you have any questions before you hear from your family match, please know we are available to help and can be reached at p2p.friends@bvsd.org or (303) 453-4614.  Additionally, please contact us if you would like to opt out of this program or not be contacted about non-school-organized events (summer picnics, birthday parties). Registration Instructions 

• Elementary: 

  • Elementary Welcome Days & Registration: Each year in August, a few days before school begins, students meet with teachers for initial greetings, classroom visits, and the start of assessments. This allows students and teachers to get to know each other in small groups, gain familiarity with new classrooms, and significantly reduce first-day jitters.

  • Please sign up for one time slot during our Welcome Days of August 10-12, 2026. Plan for your student to be at school for approximately 1.5 hours. These days also serve as Elementary Registration Days, including school pictures and health room item drop-off, so plan to take care of those items either at the beginning or end of the time slot.

  • Please choose a time for the grade level your student will attend next year by visiting this sign-up page. The online system will send you a link via email, and you'll be able to reschedule your time slot if your plans change over the summer.

  • Homeroom Placements: Homeroom placements for elementary school will be published in August, prior to the first day of school.

• Secondary:

  • Secondary Registration will take place on August 5th, 2026. Additional information and instructions will be emailed directly to families on Friday, July 24th.  We will also welcome our new secondary students back to school with a transition day. On Monday, August 10th, our 6th and 9th grade students will get to know other students and become familiar with the campus.

Athletics Registration

All secondary sports will open for registration on July 27th for the 2026-2027 school year. If you have students planning to participate in our athletic program, we encourage you to obtain a sports physical in advance to avoid any delays in the fall. As of 2025, only the official CHSAA form can be accepted for athletic participation. We cannot accept other forms of documentation from your physician.

Summer Reading and School Supply Lists

Peak to Peak students in 6th through 12th grades complete summer reading assignments. At the secondary level (6th through 12th grade), the assignments are based on the courses the students will be taking in the fall. Some courses at the high school level require purchased texts, which are also listed. You can find the summer reading assignments by using the search bar on our website.

Note: There are no summer reading assignments for rising 4th or 5th graders this year.

School Supply Lists will be included in the Registration email sent on Friday, July 24th. Most elementary supplies are covered by student fees. Some upper-level courses may require additional supplies.

High School Required Community Service 

Summer is a great time for incoming 9th graders to start on their required community service (100 hours due by April of senior year). Peak to Peak maintains a great list of service opportunities to help them find something they'll enjoy.

Upcoming Events:

• Aug. 5th at 12-5:00 pm, in the Cafeteria, Secondary Registration. This is a time for students to turn in paperwork, get their assigned lockers, drop off supplies, have school pictures taken, and pay annual student fees. 
• Aug. 7th at 2-3pm, August Kindergarten Playdate (Students & Parents/Guardians).
• Aug. 10-12 at 8-3:00 pm, K-5th Welcome Days & Registration. Sign-ups are required. 
• Aug. 10th  at 8-11:00 am, 6th Grade Transition Day. First day of school for 6th graders. No backpacks needed. 
• Aug. 10th at 8-11:30am, 9th Grade Transition Day. First day of school for 9th graders. No backpacks needed. They will have school orientation, and they will meet their PAC group that they will be with all year long. PAC, Pumas Authentically Connecting, is a nationwide high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help other students succeed, PAC Leaders (juniors & seniors) are there to support your students all year long. Please make every effort to make sure you schedule your summer plans accordingly so that students do not miss this essential and required first day of school.
