  • Can my student carry medication at school?
    • In general, NO! However, there are 2 exceptions; students may carry rescue medications (epi and/or an inhaler) at school provided the proper paperwork is on file in the Health Room. Otherwise, students are not permitted to carry or keep any medication (even over the counter medication/supplements/herbal remedies) during the school day.
  • Do I have to complete a personal exemption for immunizations every year?
    • Yes! Colorado requires that if you wish to exempt your student from the required immunizations then a new personal exemption must be filed with the school each school year. 
  • My child vomited this morning, can they still come to school?
    • No! Your student must be symptom-free for 24 hours before they may return to school, AND they must feel well enough to participate normally in school activities.
  • My student had a fever last night but I gave tylenol and they’re OK now, can they come to school?
    • No! Your student must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of any medication to lower the fever before they may return to school, and they must feel well enough to participate normally in school activities.
  • Do I need a doctor's order so my student can have ibuprofen at school, even though I can buy it over the counter?
    • Yes! If you wish to have any type of medication/supplement/herbal remedy at school for your student a signed order from your health care provider is required.
  • What happens if my student has a medical emergency at school?
    • In the unlikely event your student has a medical emergency at school the following steps will be followed:
      • If your student has a Health Care Plan on file in the Health Room it will be referenced (rescue medications will be administered if applicable)
      • 911 will be called
      • Parents/Guardians will be called
  • My student sustained a concussion, what do I do next?
    • First step is to notify the Health Room. The Health Room team will then work with you in assessing the next steps for your student. 
  • My student broke his leg, what do I do next?
    • If your student will be returning to school with an injury, or is returning to school after a medical procedure, the first step is to notify the Health Room. The Health Room team will then work with you in assessing the next steps for your student.
