Health First Resources

The Medicaid School Health Program supports the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) by funding health services provided to public school students enrolled in Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) based on income eligibility.  Services include nursing, behavioral health, orientation and mobility, speech, language, hearing, vision, occupational therapy, physical therapy, care management and specialized transportation.

The funding received through this program enables BVSD to deliver health programming for all students in the district based upon completion of a community needs assessment and Local Services Plan.  The BVSD 2019-2024 Local Services Plan includes the following goals:

  1. Increase mental health services and supports

  2. Assist uninsured and under-insured students to access and receive health care, including case management and voucher services

  3. Increase nursing services to provide social/emotional support, care coordination and chronic disease management

  4. Improve the overall health status of staff and students

  5. Provide outreach and enrollment in Medicaid and other programs
