Peak to Peak and the Boulder Valley School District are committed to maintaining an inclusive and equitable community that values diversity, fosters mutual respect, and allows for all students to attend school and employees to work in an environment that is free from harassment and discrimination. This commitment can only be realized when our values and expectations are clear; when we work collaboratively with educators, caregivers, and students to educate all community members on these topics; and when we inform students and staff about what should happen if harassment is experienced or observed at school.
Sexual violence is a form of discrimination and harassment that includes unwanted, forced, or coerced sexual contact without the consent or against the will of another person. It can range from inappropriate touching to penetration. It includes the crimes of sexual assault, rape and sexual abuse. Community members, students, and employees seeking resources relating to sexual violence can view additional information about sexual assault from the Sexual Assault Victims Advocate Center (SAVA), contact the Peak to Peak or BVSD Title IX Coordinator, or contact any of BVSD’s community partners.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is the federal civil rights law that prohibits all forms of sex-discrimination, including harassment and sexual violence, in any BVSD school and all BVSD affiliated programs, including after school programs, activities, and athletics. The person responsible for ensuring Peak to Peak is following its obligations under Title IX is the Peak to Peak Title IX Coordinator in partnership with the BVSD Coordinator.
