Peak Week

Peak Week Mission Statement

Peak Week will provide students the opportunity to learn in unique settings with real-world connections and experiences that seek to pique students’ interests, allow them a peek at various potential passion areas, and challenge them to reach new peaks, all while growing intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

Explanation of the Process

  • 10th-12th-grade students will complete a survey in class at the end of August (new for 2023-24). They must rank their top 8 preferences in order. They need to have discussed these options with their parents/guardians prior to the selection date and decide together on what the student will indicate as their Peak Week Course preferences. Students will include their parents’/guardians’ email addresses on their survey so that parents/guardians will immediately be provided a copy of the student's answers. Parents/guardians must respond to that email immediately if their student does not have permission to participate in any of their preferred courses. If a student is absent on the selection date, they will receive an email with the course registration survey that they have 48 hours to complete in order to ensure their preferences are considered.

  • Students will be placed in their most preferred course possible while balancing prerequisites, course needs, and staff recommendations considering age, class, group dynamics, and providing opportunities for all students.

  • Students and families will find out their placement via email in mid-September, and courses will meet for the first time during Flex Time in October.

  • Course placements are final. Exceptions are made for extreme circumstances only.

  • Peak Week is not an optional week of school. It is counted as required seat time with the state, and yearly participation is a graduation requirement.

New for 2023-24: In order to create more shared experiences among our students, especially at the 9th grade level where we welcome many new students to Peak to Peak, all 9th graders will be participating in a shared course experience and, as such, will not need to sign up for a course.
