Coronavirus 03.19.20: Update Week 1: #4

Dear Peak to Peak Community,

As you have likely seen by now, Peak to Peak, along with all schools in the state of Colorado, will remain closed to in-person learning at least through April 17th. Peak to Peak will move to a distance learning model beginning on March 30th. Additional information will soon be posted to the Peak to Peak website. As we move into this new dynamic, we are all sure to learn something about ourselves and one another. It is certainly a moment in time that we will all remember forever!

Building Entry and Materials Pick Up

We understand that some families and staff members may need to gather belongings from the buildings.  If you need to enter the buildings please adhere to the following important guidelines:

  • Wash hands or use hand sanitizer before entering and after leaving the buildings
  • Do not come if you have any cold or flu symptoms - fever (100 degrees or higher), cough
  • Access through the main entrances only and the main entrance to the music building for instruments
  • Stay only long enough to gather materials to take home
  • Prepare for the possibility of not coming back before the end of the school year (just in case)
  • Maintain a 6-foot distance from others

At this time, we are only offering the following times to enter our buildings:

  • Saturday 3/21 2:00-4:00 PM
  • Monday 3/23 9:00-11:00 AM
  • Monday 3/30 3:00-5:00 PM

Social-Emotional Learning, Mental Health, and Physical Health

The leadership team is continuing to guide our teachers with expectations that we hope will smooth the entry into distance learning. We are turning our focus toward systems that will help students, staff members, and families maintain mental and physical health during this unique time. In time, we will work to engage students and families in an effort to boost spirits and maintain community connections.

Canceled Events

We are aware that families have paid fees for some events that are being canceled. Thank you for your patience as we evaluate the impacts in each situation and begin to process refunds.

We know that you are receiving numerous emails, not only from our leadership team but also from your teachers and counselors. This will undoubtedly ramp up on March 30th, though we are taking steps and doing our best to manage that volume. Written communication will be paramount going forward and will become more manageable in time. Please consider that staff members are reaching out because they care about your students and are already missing them. We all feel a sense of responsibility to honor our commitment to you, our families, and our mission.

On March 30th, please anticipate that you will be receiving emails from most if not all of your students’ teachers. We acknowledge that there will be many. We’ve asked teachers to keep these messages clear and concise. We expect that reading through these emails and absorbing the information will be the extent of what students and families are asked to do on this first day. We have emphasized a “go slow to go fast” approach with teachers. Together, we will take this all in stride, make adjustments, and make progress where we can.

Tomorrow, you will receive the regular Friday Digest as well as another communication from us, the Peak to Peak Leadership Team. During Spring Break, we will limit communications to emergencies and critical information only. We encourage everyone to use Spring Break as a time to rest, be with your families.

With best regards,

The Peak to Peak Leadership Team
