NEW! School Safety Practices

It is good to periodically review and be familiar with our school closure (weather), safety, and emergency preparedness plans.  They are located on our website on the Parent/Guardian page by clicking on the School Safety box.  Below are two of the links located there so you can view the information:

NEW! COVID Information and Links

We have created a page on the Peak to Peak website with COVID information and links that may be helpful to our families. Please note that there is a link to the BVSD dashboard of student cases and quarantines at schools across the district. This dashboard is populated by the actual paperwork submissions being completed by school nurses and is the most accurate reflection of the current status. At this time, we do not intend to create a second dashboard for Peak to Peak, but we will continue to monitor the situation.

NEW! Traffic Suggestions

Drop-off/Pick-up Courtesy:  Thank you to so many of you who are adhering to our protocols and helping to make the morning and afternoon traffic a smooth and safe process for everyone. You may have noticed that our staff members supporting student drop-off and pick-up are now holding signs requesting drivers to "Please, Pull Forward." In an effort to alleviate traffic on the surrounding streets and with the intent of reducing the total time spent in the carline, we ask that you help us use the entire length of the North Drive and as much of the front circle as possible by pulling your vehicle forward when there is space in front of you and it is safe to do so. Keep in mind that our staff members have different vantage points and are there to keep the process safe, efficient, and effective.  Please remember to be courteous to our volunteers and staff who serve us on traffic duty each day.
West Parking Lot Congestion:  While traffic is getting better daily as families adjust to being back to school, there is still significant congestion in the west parking lot. It appears that many parents are still parking in the west lot and walking to the school to pick up their children. We have a few suggestions to improve the situation:
1. Please use the car lines to drop off and pick up your children, and avoid parking in the lots.
2. Join a carpool to reduce the number of cars on campus and reduce your carbon footprint. Website link?
3. Use the exit on Canterbury Drive instead of Merlin Drive as it moves more quickly.

NEW!  Quick Tip to Stay Connected: The Activity Stream

The free Peak to Peak mobile application is one strategy we use to help you stay connected. This video quick tip demonstrates one feature of the app called the "Activity Stream," which is also a feature on the Peak to Peak website. You can download the mobile application by searching for "peaktopeak" (with no spaces) in your app store, or click on these links:

NEW!  Compost and Recycling at Peak to Peak and Garden Photos Needed

Compost and Recycling:  The Wellness Committee at Peak to Peak needs your support at home to make our compost and recycling programs a success. During this time of year, we normally depend on many volunteers to help re-norm students with our composting and recycling programs in the lunchroom, K-12. Due to COVID, we are no longer able to have volunteers on campus. Please take a few minutes at home to watch the attached video and review the attached handout on recycling and composting protocols with your kids. Thank you so much for your support. Questions? Please email Monika Bunting

Garden Photos Needed:  Did you use seeds from the seed library last year? Did you plant a garden last spring? The Peak to Peak Seed Library and Gardening Club is looking for photos of students and families planting seeds and working in gardens. We will be adding these celebrations to our Seed Library and Garden website. Please send photos to Monika Bunting.

There will now be a westbound trip that services Merlin/Spaulding at 3:31 PM that begins September 7, 2021.

NEW! Back to School Night Video Links and Office Hours for the First Semester

Dear Peak to Peak High School Families,

We are excited to have the hallways buzzing with the excitement of students. Our annual Back to School Night is an evening when we have traditionally welcomed parents and guardians to campus to walk in the shoes of their students through an abbreviated version of their classes. Following the guidance from Boulder County Public Health and BVSD, we are minimizing guests in our buildings so this year we are again offering a digital “Back-to-School” night. Here is your chance to hear from the teachers that are connecting with your students on a daily basis from the comfort of your own home! So sit back, relax, and feel free to browse the videos provided by our staff to help you become better acquainted with who they are and what they teach.

You will also find a welcome video from High School Principal Kyle Mathews to help kick off your “school day.” We hope you enjoy hearing from teachers and thank you for being a valued part of the Peak to Peak community.

Click HERE for high school teachers’ Back to School Night video links and office hours for the first semester.  Take note that this “Office Hours” spreadsheet is always available via the link on the Students” page of the Peak to Peak website.

Thank you,

Kyle Mathews, High School Principal

NEW! Indigo Notification 21-22 for 9th Grade Families

Dear 9th grade Families,

Peak to Peak’s focus on social emotional education has never been more important than it is today. In support of these efforts, your ninth grader will have the opportunity to participate in a strengths-based, learning style and career assessment in their 9th grade English classes. This assessment, called the Indigo Inventory, brings together four sciences of behaviors, motivators, skills, and perceptions. We are in our eighth year of educational partnership with the Indigo Education Company; our school community has been inspired by the strengths-based differentiation this tool has offered us in our work with students in various arenas and across grade levels. While no singular assessment can reveal the full dynamic potential in each of us, we have found that the Indigo Inventory is a useful tool for our high school students as they gain the insight and language to express themselves. We hope these results will empower your 9th grader to reflect on their current strengths, advocate for their learning style and needs, and help us effectively mentor and encourage growth in your student. Like all surveys at Peak to Peak, the Indigo assessment is voluntary. Please contact high school counseling or administration with any questions.

High School Student Field Day Celebration- Monday 8/30

This year Peak to Peak High school is excited to welcome our students back to campus with a Field Day Celebration.  To help our students reconnect with their classmates and discover their new identity as a class, we will be taking Monday, August 30th to engage with activities tied to our character education traits and connect with each other. Please see the plans for each grade level and be sure to note our adjusted daily schedule for your students. August 30th will not be a regular instructional day. The day kicks off for all students with our clubs and activities fair to help our students learn about the opportunities that exist on campus. From there students will divide into activities by grade level...please click the below Read More button to read the entire High School Back to School Celebration article and view the level plans for the day.

Volunteer Information

Once on-site volunteering resumes, we will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  If you do not have a photo ID card please stop by the Volunteer Station at registration or contact the office staff.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.

Enter Volunteer Hours from Home:  Thank you for helping us track your hours for our records!  See this training on how to enter volunteer hours from home.

Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators.  They would love to meet you!
