NEW!  Canned Food Drive Breaks Record!

Dear Peak to Peak Community,

Thank you for your generosity during the food and household items drive to benefit Sister Carmen in Lafayette. We broke a record this year! Sister Carmen reported that the Peak to Peak community donated 7,088 pounds of food, toiletries, and household cleaning supplies this year beating our goal to donate 6,000 pounds.  Sister Carmen serves residents of East Boulder County experiencing financial hardship and your donations will help families as we head into the holiday season this year.  Well done Puma community!

NEW! Curriculum Proposals

It is our process to invite our school community to provide feedback on proposed new curriculum. We are asking our community for input, not votes, as teachers prepared these derived from student interests, etc.  Below you will find links to two new curriculum proposals. If you have any feedback on the below new proposals please email Traci Schoeneweis by Friday, November 19, 2021, 3:00 PM. All comments will be sent to the Curriculum Committee. Thank you.

The Boulder Valley School District and Peak to Peak’s goal is to keep students in-person five days a week, with as few COVID-19-related interruptions as possible.  We need everyone’s support to accomplish this goal – primarily by following our cardinal health protocols: stay home if you are sick or if you’ve been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Students or staff experiencing any of the following symptoms MUST STAY HOME:

Major Symptoms that last longer than 24 hrs:

  • Fever (100.4 or above)
  • Cough
  • Chills or feeling feverish
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • Anyone experiencing any major COVID symptom that lasts longer than 24 hrs must have a negative PCR COVID test to return to school or they will need to stay home for 10 days.

Minor Symptoms that last longer than 48hrs:

  • Runny nose or Congestion
  • Sore Throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle / Body aches or pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting / Nausea
  • Feeling extremely tired
  • Anyone experiencing any other COVID-like symptoms (minor symptoms) that last longer than 48 hrs must have a negative PCR COVID test to return to school or they will need to stay home for 10 days.

Testing is available through BVSD and COVID Check Colorado throughout the district - see the schedule here.  If your child has been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID within the last 10 days please contact your school to determine if they need to quarantine at home and/or need a COVID test to return.  If you have questions about returning to school/work after an illness, please contact our Health Room.

NEW! Peak Annual Fund  Update - Our Ambassador Families are Here to Help!

Each year, our Peak Annual Fund Ambassador families serve to answer questions and provide information about the importance of each family participating in the Peak Annual Fund drive.  In 2020-21, we had the highest participation rate than we have had in years, so let's keep that up!  In this recent update, the Haskins Family, our middle school ambassadors, share why they support Peak to Peak.  We encourage you to read their story, and other information provided on this page, as you consider your contribution to this important campaign.  Donations of every amount (over $10) count towards your family's participation. Thank you for joining Puma families, past and present, in considering your financial support towards our funding gap in a way that is meaningful and significant to your family.

* All will be revealed on Thursday, November 18th as we kick off our annual Peak Gala which will be held Friday, March 11th, 2022.  Be sure to mark your calendar for this spectacular event! *

NEW! Thank You Puma Pumpkins!

What a wonderful afternoon we had at Friday's Pumpkin Walk!  Over 40 creatively decorated pumpkins were submitted and 400+ ballots were cast for favorite decorated pumpkins along with several harvest guessing games. Our 15 guessing game and pumpkin winners have all been notified, but we'd really like to extend a huge thank you to all of our very talented participants!  It was a tough competition, every pumpkin received multiple votes and the guessing games were all very close.  We look forward to hosting this event again next year.

NEW! Upcoming "Pop-ups at Pick up"

Over the next several months we will be hosting a few more casual (Pop Up), outdoor activities on campus at pick up. In the Spring we plan to include a P2P spirit wear swap and a pre-owned book swap. So please hold onto these items - or, arrange to bring them to the Friends of Peak to Peak office and we can store them for you until we have these events.

NEW! P2P Family Businesses in Lafayette

Do you or someone you know have a business within walking distance to Peak to Peak? A few of our high school teachers are looking for walkable field trips and are specifically looking for Peak to Peak community-owned businesses.  Please email p2p.friends@bvsd.org with any ideas.

NEW! P2P Parent Interest Group:  Difficult Conversations ... CRT ... What's That Really?!?

We are a group of parents interested in exploring Critical Race Theory. We'll do so in a respectful way that values all viewpoints and seeks to understand one another before judgment. We are going to be discussing two books at the same time, Critical Race Theory: An Introduction (3rd Edition) by Delgado and Stefanic, and Cynical Theories by Pluckrose and Lindsay. If having great conversations from an academic perspective is your thing, please join us!  We will be meeting over the next few months (starting November 16th) at East Simpson Coffee or can provide a zoom link.  Any questions or want to RSVP? Please reach out to Sarah Boonstra at sarah.j.boonstra@gmail.com or Marleene Buttice at marleene.buttice@gmail.com.

Volunteer Needs

  • Volunteers needed for Music performances:  We are seeking 4 parent volunteers to help with a student concert we have on Tuesday, Dec. 7th from 5:15 - 7:45.  The volunteers will be supervising students in breakout room mini-concerts in the band, orchestra, choir, and BAASC room as they set up and then perform.

Volunteer Information

Once on-site volunteering resumes, we will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  If you do not have a photo ID card please stop by the Volunteer Station at registration or contact the office staff.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.

Enter Volunteer Hours from Home:  Thank you for helping us track your hours for our records!  See this training on how to enter volunteer hours from home.

Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators.  They would love to meet you!
