NEW! HS Rise for the Peak!
Dear High School Students and Families: On Friday, April 15th, we have a very special program in place for all students during our early release day schedule. It’s our annual RISE FOR THE PEAK time once again! After a few years of hiatus, Rise for the Peak events will include fun class competitions, spirited activities, a gigantic pizza party, and more during this morning of scheduled classes. Our frosh and juniors will come together as a team, combining points from events planned that day, while sophomores and seniors join forces to earn points for their combined team. May the best team win the day! Each event has points for the taking based on the best performance by individual class members. The events range from athletic to academic, techy to sporty, and artsy to bookish. There are activities planned for all, and we NEED EVERY PUMA ON CAMPUS for our events this day (note: this is a required day of school). Most importantly, we want to connect our students to one another and our wonderful staff after months of dealing with remote learning, masking mandates, and feeling disconnected from the school community. This spirit-raising day is geared to help students see how fun life at Peak to Peak can be, and that everyone has a place in our school. Please don’t schedule trips or travel time on this day - it’s an essential part of our programming and it promises to be a monumental day in our year of returning to in-person learning. Every Puma has a place, and every Puma has pride to display on this day and all year long. We look forward to hosting our teens in friendly competition and a rousing day of cheers, chants, and celebration. We’ll release students at the normal early release time, 1:00 PM, following our special lunch plan for this day. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, and thanks for all you do! Kyle Mathews, High School Principal Josh Benson, High School Assistant Principal |
NEW! Spring Testing Parents/guardians, don't forget that the PSAT and SAT is on Wednesday, April 13th for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. Students should report to their testing room by 7:55am. Rosters will be posted in the lobby and outside the CCC the week before testing. Please bring only a bottle of water, a #2 pencil, and a calculator. Students will be dismissed after testing; you can view the exact testing calendar and release times here (log in to view). There are no classes for seniors on April 13th. |
NEW! April 18 University of Wyoming Field Trip Update
Unfortunately, we did not have enough students register for the April 18 college field trip to the University of Wyoming. In addition, due to the high cost of the charter bus, we are not able to offer this specific field trip this spring. We do hope to offer a field trip to the University of Wyoming next year as an optional trip with an additional fee. There are some great options to visit local colleges on your own during this professional development day but we are unable to offer transportation or supervision. Please let your counselor know if you have any questions.

NEW! Peak to Peak’s Courses Align with College Board Statement In alignment with its college-prep vision and mission, Peak to Peak offers 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which are designed by the College Board, a non-profit organization founded in 1900 to expand access to higher education to students across the United States. High school students at Peak to Peak are encouraged to take AP courses in subject areas they are passionate about to challenge themselves and maximize their preparation for college. The courses also offer an opportunity to experience the academic rigor of college in a safe environment and to be competitive in the college application process. While not guaranteed, in some cases, AP courses and exams may save students money through college course credit, class waivers, or by providing a competitive edge in college acceptances and scholarships. Recently, partly in response to the heated local and national debates currently taking place about appropriate content for K-12 public education, the College Board published a statement of principles related to AP courses. Without engaging in political rhetoric, this statement articulates clear principles about AP courses and the role they play in preparing students for their postsecondary pursuits with challenging content and effective development and use of their critical thinking skills. Peak to Peak’s secondary curriculum leaders reviewed this statement at the most recent curriculum committee meeting, and are aligned with it, not just for the AP program, but for all courses. We wanted to share it with you directly as part of our ongoing efforts to support families’ understanding of Peak to Peak’s philosophies and approaches to curricular content. This statement will also be linked on our website and included in the high school academic handbook to provide further context for our course offerings. Best regards, Kelly Reeser, Executive Director of Education |
Sign In and Out Procedures Changed Beginning Monday, March 28th, high school students will be able to sign in, sign out, and get tardy passes all day at the Hub window. They no longer have to come to the main office in the south building. If a parent/guardian needs a high school student dismissed early they should also go to the Hub. Students in grade K-8 will continue to come to the main office window in the south lobby. If a parent/guardian needs to pick up students in high school in addition to another grade level, they should come to the main office in the south building and no need to go to the Hub.

Volunteer Information Once on-site volunteering resumes, we will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year. If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year! Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back. If you do not have a photo ID card please stop by the Volunteer Station at registration or contact the office staff. Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure. If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year. You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time. Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration: Volunteer Information Volunteer training is online. Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering. If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again. It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols. Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information. It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website. Enter Volunteer Hours from Home: Thank you for helping us track your hours for our records! See this training on how to enter volunteer hours from home. Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators. They would love to meet you! |
