NEW! Time to Vote!  The 2022 Peak to Peak Election
It's time to vote!  Ballots were emailed out from Peak to Peak Charter School (vote@simplyvoting) at approximately 7:15 AM this morning.  Voting will end at 11:59 PM on Friday, May 13th.  For the 2022 election, members of the Peak to Peak community will be asked to vote on two important items:
  1. The election of three new board members
  2. The approval of the proposed updated bylaws.

You can read about the candidates and the updates to the bylaws on the Election 2022 page of our website. 

Your vote matters!  According to our bylaws, approval of the proposed updates requires a vote of the membership and that we must reach at least a 30% participation rate. Please read more below about why these updates are important and why your participation in this election matters.  

Why update the bylaws?  Our school must have exemplary governance practices to be truly effective in advancing our mission and high student achievement. The original Peak to Peak bylaws have been modified five times over the last twenty years with the last update in 2013. In their current state, the bylaws are not providing a clear governance structure for the school. It is important to note that the proposed updates are not designed to implement any significant or strategic change in the nature of the School’s governance.  The intent of the changes is to create functional guidance for school governance.

Host Family Needed 

Hello Peak to Peak Families! I’m looking for host family for an outstanding exchange student for this coming school year. Nina from Serbia plays volleyball, swims, hikes and bikes. She’s creative and loves to paint, draw, and throw pottery. Her wish is to be a doctor to save as many lives as she can! She enjoys pets, watching movies, and spending time with family.  She’s looking forward to having an American family and friends. The exchange students from Aspect Foundation are first vetted in their home countries because they want to send the best of the best. End-of-Year Reminders
As we approach the end of the school year, here are a couple reminders for our families:
  • End of Year Withdrawals/Transfers:  We ask ALL students that will be transferring to a different school for the next school year, even those that have gone through open enrollment to attend another BVSD school, to formally withdraw.  This just means complete and return our withdrawal form, turn in  Peak to Peak materials, and clear all accounts.  Please touch base with our bookkeeper to clear accounts, amy.skinner@bvsd.org , return all checked out materials, (library books, uniforms, classroom materials, etc.), close lunch accounts, and clean out lockers.  Once done please email completed withdrawal forms to our registrar, vicki.lundquist@bvsd.org .  The withdrawal form is attached.
  • Final Report Cards:  Once grades are finalized for the current school year, which is about two weeks after the last day of school, please visit your Parent Portal and PRINT your student's report card for your records.  It will only be available until the new school year becomes active.  This is for all students K-12.  For our drivers, this is what the insurance company will require for good driver discounts.

Communication Pathways 
At Peak to Peak, we strive for positive, open, and inclusive, two-way communication with our families. To facilitate this goal and to ensure we can address your needs as quickly and efficiently as possible, we use The Communication Pathways as a problem-solving strategy and the Principals for Effective Dialogue to guide a positive experience. The Communication Pathways create an effective and respectful process to resolve and address issues that arise. We have found our dialogue to be particularly productive and mutually beneficial when all parties adhere to the recommended Principles for Productive Dialogue. Please know that when you are seeking information or answers to questions, we always welcome conversations with any member of our community.

Each year in August, a few days before school begins, we host Assessment Days for students to meet teachers and begin assessments. Please read more information here and sign-up for a time slot!




Sixth Grade Welcome Picnic for Current Fifth Graders  
Please join us at this year’s 6th Grade Welcome Picnic!
  • When: Monday, May 9th from 5:30-7:00 PM
  • Where: P2P Cafeteria
  • What: This is an informal time for ALL incoming 6th graders (current 5th Grade P2P students and students who will be new to our P2P in middle school) and their families to get to know each other and the 6th-grade team. Please bring a picnic dinner. Students will also receive course placement information. Specific schedules will be available in August at registration. We hope to see you there! Questions? Secondary School News (grades 6-12)



Our High School staff is very excited to launch our first annual Peak Week next year, March 13-17. Teachers and counselors have been hard at work creating experiential education courses that we are sure will provide students with memorable, formative experiences. Peak Week will become an important part of students’ experience at Peak to Peak, and yearly participation is a graduation requirement. Please mark your calendars. Students and guardians will receive all course options in the fall; students will rank order their preferences and student placement will be dependent on multiple factors with the goal of placing every student in one of their top choices. Costs for courses will range from around $40 (similar to a field trip fee) to $2500 international courses that run into some of Spring Break. At least 50% of courses will cost under $150, and financial assistance will be made available for those that need it.

Middle School News (grades 6-8)


NEW!  Run for the Peak / Signed Ninja Nation Waiver needed! - Friday, May 13th! 

At our final fundraising event of the year, our middle school Pumas will be participating in our end-of-the-year tradition - Run for the Peak!  All K-8 students participate in Run for the Peak for free. For over 20 years, through this event, we invite community members (and family and friends) to financially support Peak to Peak's approximate $1,000 per student funding gap.

To celebrate and recognize all the hard work from our middle school Puma's this year we will also have the Ninja Nation mobile obstacle course at this year's event!  Here’s how to support our teachers and students through Run for the Peak ~ and support your student(s) middle school house in winning a Menchies party on May 18th!

1. Visit Run for the Peak page (* ask your Puma which house they are in! *)
2. Make a donation!  Donations of any amount (receive a gift from Pete), donations of $50 or more (receive a P2P sport water bottle), all increments of $100 are entered into a raffle for parking spots and other fun prizes including Water World tickets, rec center passes, gift cards and more!
3. "Share" the page with friends and family. Historically over 50% of Run for the Peak donations come from outside the community. 
4.  Set up a personalized fundraising page.  Simply select “become a champion” on your Puma’s grade level page and follow instructions (including uploading your Puma’s picture!) for a personalized link to send to friends and family.
5. Join us on May 13th for a fun walk/run around the track and Ninja Nation Obstacle Course fun! Waivers must be signed by all participants.

High School News (grades 9-12)


NEW! Principal Article: Congrats to the Class of 2022 
Congratulations to the senior class of 2022, the graduates who have shaped our school, guided the K-12 community, and left a positive legacy over the past 13 years. Thank you for all you have done, students and families, for facing the challenges set before you with great character, and for carrying yourselves with dignity while successfully navigating distance learning and COVID barriers during your high school careers. You’ve sacrificed a great deal, and that is not lost on any of us. We are very proud of you!

Looking ahead to graduation later this month, we are excited to see our senior families and friends on Friday evening, May 20th, at Boulder High School’s Recht Field. You’ll need tickets to attend the ceremony, which will be provided to seniors during checkout on May 18th. Tickets are limited to 10 per graduate. With the Centaurus graduation ceremony taking place prior to ours, parking will be tight. Please be patient while families are departing and park in designated areas only. If possible, carpool, take public transportation or park off site and walk to the field that evening. Reach out to Tracy Durland, our graduation coordinator, with any questions. 

Currently, we envision setting up the graduation stage and preparing our graduates on the field from 7-7:30PM (as soon as the Centaurus students and families exit). Families of graduating seniors are welcome to join us during that time so that we may begin promptly at 7:30 PM. We anticipate about an hour-long ceremony with great student and staff speeches and a number of special guests. Bring an umbrella just in case of inclement weather! We are also pleased to offer live streaming of the ceremony with the Boulder Valley School District’s support for those who are unable to attend in person. Masks are optional, and we do ask that families exit the stadium as soon as the ceremony concludes. We are excited to celebrate the class of 2022 in what may be our final ceremony away from campus this spring.

We look forward to walking our seniors across the finish line, helping all students successfully navigate their Advanced Placement and final exams, and then welcoming our newest ninth graders and the incoming senior class, the class of 2023, back to school in August. Thank you for helping us be flexible with all of the health challenges we faced this year, and for your ongoing support and kindness as we close out a banner year for our high school graduates and our top-100 school of choice.

NEW!  K-8 Run for the Peak - NEXT Friday, May 13th!

At our final fundraiser of the year, K-8 Pumas learn the importance of wellness and goal setting as they participate in a 20-minute fun walk/run on the P2P turf field while raising money to support our approximate $1,000 per student funding gap. NEW!  Peak to Peak Learning Garden Open House: Friday, May 13th, 3:00-4:00pm

We invite the community to join us at our garden Open House next Friday to learn about all the wonderful things that are happening in our Peak Learning Garden - including our new CSA program! We will have free lettuce starts for you to take home for your own summer gardens and information about our new CSA program. For a donation to the Peak Learning Garden, $50 or more, supporters will receive a Peak Learning Garden Farmers Market tote bag made entirely out of recycled material, AND will be invited to sign up for a week to harvest some vegetables from our learning garden over the summer months. 

Other ways to help in the garden include signing up for a week of our summer stewardship program. Volunteers choose a week to help maintain the garden. Sign up here to help!

 Volunteer Needs

  • Crocs Distribution:  Crocs have generously donated shoes to our staff and students. We are seeking a couple of volunteers to help sort and distribute the week of May 9th and on Friday, May 13th.  Times are flexible.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis if you can help.


  • Community Book Swap:  Just in time for summer reading!  Bring books your students have outgrown and select new books.  Book collection starts next week with boxes at the entrance to the north and south buildings and the swap will take place May 19th and 20th from 2:30 - 3:30 pm in the front circle.  You do not have to donate books to come to get new ones!  


  • 8th Grade pizza and games, May 20th:  On Friday, May 20th we will be celebrating our 8th grade students with an afternoon pizza party and field day on campus.  Please sign up here to volunteer!


Volunteer Information

Once on-site volunteering resumes, we will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  If you do not have a photo ID card please stop by the Volunteer Station at registration or contact the office staff.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.
