NEW! Welcome Back From Our Board of Directors

Hello, Peak to Peak Community! It has been wonderful to be back on campus, and meet and greet familiar and new faces alike! While our students and families have been enjoying the last weeks of summer off, our entire staff has been hard at work to prepare our classrooms, facilities, and programs for a warm welcome back. Much gratitude to all! Special thanks as well to our hiring team which has worked through the summer to fill some of our remaining open positions. Thank you!

On August 10 your brand new board met for the first time this school year. Among various agenda items, we elected board officers as well as board liaisons to our committees. To introduce ourselves with our respective roles and committee assignments, here is a brief overview...please click Board Welcome to read the entire article.

NEW!  Electric Bus Update and Planning Committee

We are pleased to announce that our electric buses are slated to arrive on campus in the next several weeks. Initially, the buses will be used for athletics, activities, and school-sponsored field trips. As soon as possible, we will expand transportation services to include morning pick-up at three locations. Locations have been identified in Erie, Lafayette/Louisville, and Broomfield, and are based on an analysis of our current enrollment. At this time, we are seeking community volunteers to participate on our Bus Planning Committee (BPC). This committee will assist with several remaining details to launch the new transportation program at Peak to Peak, including the development of a system for prioritizing morning pick-up services as space will be limited. If you are interested in possibly volunteering for the BPC, please sign up here:  K-12 Bus Planning Committee

NEW!  Host Families Needed for Exchange Student

Now is the time to learn, share and grow your family’s knowledge of the world! Nonprofit EF High School Exchange Year (EF) is looking for a volunteer host family to share their American experience with EF student & soccer player Siri from Norway. Siri is a happy, polite, and friendly girl who loves to laugh. Siri loves all sports, but she especially loves soccer. She plays on a Club soccer team. Siri also loves to cook, bake, ski, fish, and play board games. Siri is an excellent student with a “B+” GPA. EF host families provide home, food, and love. The job of an EF host family is simply to live your normal life. EF students speak excellent English, are fully vetted, and insured. They cover all personal expenses other than room and board, including school fees and anything they buy or do while in the USA. There are tax deductions for hosting. All EF host families receive 10% off any teacher-led international EF Tours student trip or EF Girl Scout international trip for a two-year period. To learn more about making Siri’s dream of studying in Colorado come true, please contact Melissa at shareyouramerica@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Communication Pathways

At Peak to Peak, we strive for positive, open, and inclusive, two-way communication with our families. To facilitate this goal and to ensure we can address your needs as quickly and efficiently as possible, we use The Communication Pathways as a problem-solving strategy and the Principles for Effective Dialogue to guide a positive experience. The Communication Pathways create an effective and respectful process to resolve and address issues that arise. We have found our dialogue to be particularly productive and mutually beneficial when all parties adhere to the recommended Principles for Productive Dialogue. Please know that when you are seeking information or answers to questions, we always welcome conversations with any member of our community.

NEW!  Elementary Feedback Needed

Elementary Families,

Welcome to the first week of school! We had such a terrific week as we welcomed students back to campus, and families back to our buildings. In fact, many staff members think this could have been the best first day ever! Students did such a great job of listening, learning, and joining together again. There were so many smiles and much laughter throughout the week, and we hope it’s the start of many more great days to come!

Thanks to everyone who attended Assessment Days and Back to School Night this week. We would really like to hear from you about your experiences and get some feedback about these events. Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey and help us plan for future events.  Let’s make it a great year, together!

NEW! Free Therapy Sessions

Colorado’s youth have access to free therapy sessions through the state's 'The I Matter' program, which provides up to six free mental health sessions with a licensed provider and is open to youth 18 years of age or younger, or 21 years of age or younger if receiving special education services. The program provides accessible, confidential, and non-judgmental behavioral health services to any Colorado youth.  A few facts about the program:

  • Most of the sessions are held via telehealth, however, there are a few providers offering in-person sessions.
  • Sessions are available in the morning, afternoon, and evening, during the week and on weekends. Sessions are available as soon as the same day.
  • Youth 12 and up are able to register for the program on their own.
  • Youth under 12 need a parent/guardian to register with them.
  • Sessions are available in both English and Spanish.
  • All Colorado youth can access up to 6 free sessions, regardless of their insurance, as the program is grant funded through the state and does not go through insurance.
Youth can visit the I Matter website to enroll in the program and have a therapy session as soon as the same day, at imattercolorado.org

Volunteer Information

Once on-site volunteering resumes, we will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  If you do not have a photo ID card please stop by the Volunteer Station at registration or contact the office staff.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.

Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators.  They would love to meet you!
