NEW! Land Purchase

Dear Peak to Peak Community,

We would like to share an exciting development with you. A short while ago Peak to Peak was contacted and made aware that the 1.35 acre property, just east of our campus at 85 N 120th Street was being sold. On Saturday, August 27th, the Peak to Peak Board of Directors met to discuss the property and the potential for Peak to Peak. This meeting became urgent when we were made aware that the property had three interested parties. The purpose of this special meeting was to determine if the acquisition of this property might be in our school’s long-term best interest. During the meeting, the board voted unanimously in support of the school pursuing the purchase, up to the list price of the property.

We are pleased to share that on Monday our offer was accepted and Peak to Peak has entered a contract to purchase the land.

The decision to pursue this purchase was based on the following considerations:

  1. By purchasing this property, the school creates a buffer between our campus and the light industrial zone, which encompasses the listed property.
  2. The property presents a variety of use opportunities for Peak to Peak. While no decisions have been made about use, the board and leadership team have already begun to explore how the land may be utilized in the future. The important step was to react quickly to this opportunity. In time, we will engage with our community to determine how best to use the property.
  3. With development continuing in the immediate area around the school, the acquisition establishes not only a boundary, but also a legacy opportunity. Whether the property is developed for Peak to Peak or whether it is used as an investment property, it may be generations before the property could be back on the market.
  4. The purchase will be funded with financial reserves. The operating budget will not be adversely impacted; our academic, compensation, and operational programs will remain intact and unaffected by this purchase.
  5. The school has sufficient financial reserves to cover the cost of the purchase, with enough remaining to address emergencies or additional one time purchases. For over two decades, Peak to Peak’s fiscal practices have made it possible to address opportunities such as this. Our reserved funds are sufficient to cover the purchase because the balance exceeds the amount required by our bond and as suggested by best practice.

Over the next several weeks, we will engage in due diligence inspections and procedures. At this time the land purchase is not final, it is contingent on the findings during this next phase of the process. We will keep the community updated on our progress. Thank you for your continued support of our students and the systems that support them at Peak to Peak.

Sincerely,

The Peak to Peak Board of Directors

NEW!  Having Trouble Reading the Digest on Your Phone? Try These Options!

Each week, we email the digest using the tools available to make it accessible on a variety of services. However, we know that not all technology is perfectly compatible. Not all email apps can interpret the responsive tools we use to create the digest. That's why we provide several different ways for you to access and read the digest. If you like to read the digest on your phone, try one of these options:
  • Read the digest on the Peak to Peak website: It is posted in a weekly archive and the screen adapts to your phone. Find it here or through the link on the bottom of the website homepage.
  • Read the digest on the Peak to Peak mobile app: Each article from the weekly digest is individually loaded to the relevant pages on the website, which in turn, populate the mobile app. K-12 News and Volunteer opportunities are posted on the home page. School Level and Secondary news items are posted to the corresponding school level pages. Friends and Athletics news items are posted to their respective pages. You can even customize the mobile app to read the sections that matter most to you! Use these links to access the Apple and Android versions of the app.
Another tool available to you on both the website and on the mobile app is called the Activity Stream. You can select your preferred pages and calendars and get a personalized "stream" of digest articles, news items, calendar events, etc. Click here to watch a video and learn more about the Activity Stream.

NEW!  Middle School Back-to-School Night Feedback

Dear Middle School Families,

For those of you able to join us, thank you for attending our Back-to-School Night this week! It was inspiring to witness so many adults connecting with each other on behalf of our middle schoolers. In response to feedback from previous years, our goal was to create an event this year that facilitated presentations from grade-level teams as well as individual classroom teachers, and also allowed attendees to choose their priorities in the latter half of the evening. We would appreciate hearing about your unique experience in an effort to continuously improve this important community event. Please consider filling out the 8-question survey below, and thanks once more for engaging with us as partners in the journey of your middle schooler(s).

In gratitude,

Clara Quinlan, Middle School Principal

NEW! An Important Reminder About Peak Week 2023

Please see our Course Descriptions again for instructions on procedures and registering for this important week in March. Parents/guardians must look at these options with their student before Friday, September 9th to avoid their student signing up for a course for which they do not have permission. If your student is absent on Sept. 9th, please look for an email mid-morning with a registration link to complete. We are looking to get placements completed as soon as possible, and not completing a registration by 1:00 PM. on that Friday could affect our ability to place your student in a course of their preference.

NEW! 6-12 Science Department Grading Update

Hello high school families,

This year, we are continuing to investigate research-based methods to grade students more equitably in the high school and K-12 based on what they know and are able to do in each of their content areas. While we've been an Standards-Based Grading (SBG) school since 2011, we are piloting a summative-based approach to scoring in grade books with our secondary science department this year. Their efforts are going to inform next steps across the 6-12 departments based on how successfully they measure student assessment for learning and growth over time. This has been an ongoing effort over the past year...please click 6-12 Science Grading to read the entire article.

Volunteer Information

Thank you for considering to volunteer at Peak to Peak!  We will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.

Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators.  They would love to meet you!
