NEW!  Inclement Weather & School Closing Information

We are quickly approaching the winter weather months so we wanted to remind everyone of the school closure process.  School closure decisions due to weather (aka "Snow Days") are first made by BVSD.  If we have school on a day that BVSD also has school then we follow their decision.  Please note that we are NOT a Mountain School and do not align with closures to those few schools.  BVSD will decide if they are closing school due to weather prior to 6:00 AM.  It will be on their website and on most local news channels.  We also have notifications posted on our website, and our school Facebook page and automated phone calls, emails, texts, and push notifications to the mobile application will be delivered with information about the closure as soon as there is a BVSD decision.  The options for weather closures are either a 2-hour delay or closed for the entire school day.

If it is a 2-hour delay the following will apply:

  • The school day will start at 9:55 AM for secondary and 10:00 AM for elementary
  • The school day will end at normal time
  • The morning BAASC coverage will be canceled
  • There will be no breakfast served
  • Elementary schedules will pick up where they would normally be at 10:00 AM
  • Secondary will have a revised schedule that will be sent out that morning

Under all but the most extreme conditions, school officials have a responsibility to keep school in session. During Colorado winters, snow and ice are to be expected and some days will result in a delay or closure if necessary.  As always, BVSD and Peak to Peak respect a parent/guardian's decision to keep students home from school or delay their arrival due to weather conditions. Contact our school's attendance office and the absence will be excused.

NEW!  Curriculum Proposals

It is our process to invite our school community to provide feedback on proposed new curriculum. We are asking our community for input, not votes, as teachers prepared these derived from student interests, etc.  Below you will find links to new curriculum proposals. If you have any feedback on the below new proposals please email Traci Schoeneweis by Friday, November 11, 2022, 3:00 PM. All comments will be sent to the Curriculum Committee. Thank you.

Communication Pathways

At Peak to Peak, we strive for positive, open, and inclusive, two-way communication with our families. To facilitate this goal and to ensure we can address your needs as quickly and efficiently as possible, we use The Communication Pathways as a problem-solving strategy and the Principles for Effective Dialogue to guide a positive experience. The Communication Pathways create an effective and respectful process to resolve and address issues that arise. We have found our dialogue to be particularly productive and mutually beneficial when all parties adhere to the recommended Principles for Productive Dialogue. Please know that when you are seeking information or answers to questions, we always welcome conversations with any member of our community.

NEW!  Peak Annual Fund - “Why We Give” Ambassador Family Testimonial and a Special Note from Pete the Puma

Our ambassador families have received some great questions from community members and would like to remind you that they welcome sharing with you why they support Peak to Peak. Please see this message from high school family ambassador Laura Uzzle:  “We support Peak to Peak’s Annual Fund to show our appreciation to our school’s amazing educators and staff. As parents of a recent graduate, we have seen first-hand how students benefit from the thoughtful preparation and attention they receive at Peak to Peak.  Supporting the annual fund is an impactful way to give back. By helping offset the school’s debt payment, our gift allows more of the general operating funds to be spent supporting our teachers, staff, counselors, and coaches. Giving through a monthly, recurring gift is easy and allows us to increase our support by spreading our contribution throughout the year.” We invite you to join our ambassador families by participating in the Annual Fund Drive, and sharing the reasons why you give with other Puma families!

Pete the Puma would also like to encourage families to make their donation to the Peak Annual Fund this week by offering a special “Treat with Pete” classroom treat delivery to 3 lucky winners. All donations made before Friday, November 4th are eligible to win.

Volunteer Needs

  • Staff Appreciation Lunch November 9th:  Our International Staff Appreciation lunch is coming up on November 9th! We are so excited about hosting another lunch in the staff’s new lounge. The last one was a complete success. This is a popular event for our teachers and staff and a great way to show them all how much we appreciate what they are doing. We will be making 4 lunches this year and we need all of the donations we can get. Please email me or call me with any questions or ideas. Nicole Harrison harrisonnicole@me.com (303)803-0453.  Nov 9th Staff Appreciation sign up here

  • Playground Volunteers Needed:  Are you ready to shoot some hoops on the playground?  Chat with students on the wood chips?  Be a friendly face for students needing assistance at recess? Elementary administrators are looking for regular volunteers to assist our hardworking paraprofessionals and teachers out on the elementary playground.  We have two different daily time slots each weekday for which we need volunteers:
    • Lunchtime recess set-up and supervision for Grades 3-5:  Monday-Friday 10:15-10:55am
    • Lunchtime recess supervision and clean-up for Grades K-2:  Monday-Friday 10:55-11:25am
You can volunteer for between 1-5 days per week for either or both recess times. Please fill out this survey, and we will reach out to you soon to discuss the details. Thank you!

Volunteer Information

Thank you for considering to volunteer at Peak to Peak!  We will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed our volunteer waiver and release form then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please make sure you have a photo volunteer ID card with a barcode on the back.  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.

If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the volunteer waiver and release form each year.  You will be given a one-time volunteer ticket to turn in when you volunteer the one time.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well for a refresher on protocols.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.

Your Volunteer Team would love to hear from you. If you have any interest in volunteering for anything at all but do not know where to start please email either Allie Cross or Rachel Hirt, Volunteer Coordinators.  They would love to meet you!
