  • Western Washington University

A maximum of 10 students will visit seven colleges and explore local sites in the Pacific Northwest next year during spring break, from Sunday, March 25th to Friday, March 30th 2017. Projected costs are around $1000 for five nights and six days. Students will get to visit a range of public and private, large and small, liberal arts and research institutions during the trip to explore their best fit. Admission presentations, tours, and a meal on campus will give students a good overview of each college!

Recommended Viewing: The October Thrive Update newsletter

We highly recommend you read the Thrive newsletter that Bruce Messinger, the BVSD superintendent, sends out monthly. This month’s issue includes a wonderful front page article on how to support your student’s learning.

In addition, please consider attending the viewing of Most Likely to Succeed, on October 27th (reserving seats is highly recommended), which is one film in the 3-part series of the Innovation in Education film series (see page 2 of the newsletter).

Most Likely to Succeed offers an inspiring look at what students and teachers are capable of. Directed by acclaimed documentarian Greg Whiteley, the film has been an official selection of two dozen of the world’s top film festivals, including Sundance and Tribeca. It’s been featured at leading conferences on education, including ASU/GSV, SxSWedu, Harvard/GoldmanSachs, and NewSchools Venture Fund. Audience members call it the most compelling film ever done on the topic of school. See more at http://www.mltsfilm.org.

View the film's trailer here:

The film series is being organized by Boulder Valley School District and is sponsored by the University of Colorado Boulder and the Colorado Education Initiative.
