Strategies to Cut the Cost of College, with Information on Changes to the FAFSA, Which Affect All Families

Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Parents & Guardians,

You are invited to a special session with Jay Murray, of Solutions for Tuition, on October 11th to learn about the changes in the FAFSA and the CSS Profile, which are now using Prior Prior Year (PPY) income and tax data. This change affects families in the SOPHOMORE year (and earlier). JUNIOR families, you still have the opportunity to make changes to the methods you and your child save for college and report income. Jay will also be speaking on strategies to cut the cost of college--even during your student's high school years.

The table below indicates which year's tax info. will be required when families file financial aid documents as their student applies to college.? And please take note of the much earlier filing date beginning October 1st of the student's senior year.

Jay will be presenting in the HS Counseling Center on Tuesday, October 11th:

CSS Profile: 6:15-7:00 pm (this is primarily for senior families, though all are welcome)

FAFSA: 7:00 pm (for all families)

Link to FAFSA info.

Participating list of schools which require the additional filing of the CSS Profile

Thank you for your considering attending this important event!

Method Test Prep (MTP) is an online course that helps students build their math, reading, writing, and SAT/ACT test prep skills.

Juniors need to sign up for their MTP account before Thursday Access class this week to prepare to use this software in their SAT test prep classes.

By visiting the following link, students can create their own account:

https://app.methodtestprep.com/PeaktoPeakCharterSchool/signup

Juniors, please wait to take the diagnostic quizzes, as we will be assigning these in Access classes over the next few weeks.

The program can also be used to prep for the upcoming PSAT test all juniors will take on October 19th. Since the PSAT closely aligns with the SAT, students should focus on the SAT prep the program provides.

Thank you, students, for taking the time to set up your Method Test Prep account!
