NEW Strategically Planning Ahead for Innovation – Updated Land Purchase

Two weeks ago, Peak to Peak’s Board of Directors and Leadership Team (ELT) announced exciting news of a contract executed for purchase of a land parcel just north of our school at Emma and Canterbury. This exciting acquisition is on schedule and should be completed by the end of December. Please see the attached map.

Additionally, while this transaction was taking place, we were also able to successfully negotiate the purchase of the parcel adjacent to and just south of it. It is the land that currently has a large white “For Sale” sign on it. The parcels are owned by two different entities, but we will be closing on both of them by the end of this calendar year.

As with the first parcel, Peak to Peak is also paying cash for this second parcel, using funds from the school’s financial reserves. The reserves are not part of the operational budget. Thus, Peak to Peak’s current programs, staffing and operations will not be affected by this transaction. Additionally, because of its careful financial management practices, Peak to Peak will still be able to easily maintain the minimum reserve level required by our bond covenants and industry-standard best practices. The school will essentially be converting some of its cash reserves into a land asset that has a high probability of appreciating in the current market that exists in our area – especially now that we will own not one but both parcels.

Not only does acquiring both of these connecting parcels make sense, this land ensures that Peak to Peak will have the option to expand the campus in the future. It also protects the school from other, outside development that could possibly have had a negative impact. This purchase, like the previous one we announced earlier this month, has received the full encouragement and support of Peak to Peak’s Finance and Budget Committee, the Board, our ELT and numerous Peak to Peak families who have reached out upon hearing the exciting news.

NEW Donations Needed for High School After Prom

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Lisa Walther and I am writing to you on behalf of the Peak to Peak After Prom Committee. I am a parent of three Peak to Peak students, one of whom has already graduated. One of their most anticipated and memorable events is, and has been, the High School Junior/Senior Prom. Each spring, HS Student Council sponsors a fantastic Junior/Senior Prom and this year’s event, on April 6, 2018, promises to be the same. After the event, it is customary for a parent group to sponsor the Peak to Peak “After Prom,” so that our Junior and Senior students can gather safely and continue to enjoy their end of year festivities. This year we are collaborating exclusively with Fat Cats on April 6/7, 2018 from 12:00–4:00 AM to provide a fun, safe and substance-free After Prom event. We are asking for your help to make this a safe and memorable night for our hard-working students. This event requires a significant amount of planning, resources and support. We are working with parents and local communities to raise funds to offset a portion of the ticket price and to pull off the event, including providing exciting door prizes. We are counting on the generosity of people like you and local businesses to help us fund the experience and contribute door prizes geared for teenagers and incoming college freshmen. Here’s what we need:

• Gift cards to restaurants, entertainment, and big box stores such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy
• Gifts such as backpacks, headphones, laptops, phones, coffee makers, mini refrigerators, bikes, comforters/linens, TVs, calculators,
• Monetary gifts--Checks can be made out to Peak to Peak Charter School, indicating ‘2018 After Prom’ in the memo.

It is our goal to provide enough door prizes so that every student who attends will be recognized. Grand prizes will be given away at the end of the event to motivate students to stay for the entire time. Likewise, it’s our goal to keep ticket prices for the event as low as possible so all students can attend. At this time of year, when you may be considering end-of-year donations, consider:

• Making a personal or business donation to 2018 After Prom
• Using the Peak to Peak Scrip program by purchasing an extra gift card or two for After Prom
• Donating any gift cards you receive for the holidays that you may not likely use

All donations can be mailed or brought to the school office and should be labeled 2018 After Prom. All donors and volunteers that contribute will be listed on our event website, and in a “Thank You” letter that will go out to the entire Peak to Peak Community. Thank you very much for your consideration and for honoring our students at this memorable time of their lives! In the meantime, if you have questions or would like to volunteer on our committee, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

Starting at only $250 there are many opportunities including sponsoring the evening entertainment or the "Puma Saloon" through ad opportunities in our printed program. Looking for Peak Gala Silent Auction Items
A meaningful way to support the Peak Gala is to donate an item to this year's silent auction AKA "Ole General Store"! Do you know of a business who would like to advertise to our families? Consider asking if they donate their item/service to school fundraisers. Most do and know it will likely result in a new customer. Consider your hair stylist, camps your kids attend, restaurants you go to, services you use. Many items can also be included in packages so no donation is too small! The downloadable item donation information letter and form are available here. Items can be arranged for pick up by a committee member or brought into the school at any time. Please contact P2P parent Trena Kloss tjkloss@gmail.com with any questions.
Thank You Peak to Peak business supporters.
We'd like to remind our families to consider showing your support of the businesses who support us! For a list of businesses who support Peak to Peak please check out last year's Gala Program, our Puma Pennant Program and parent business partner page. Thank you for helping us support these wonderful partners!
