NEW The 2018 Annual Peak to Peak Family Survey is now available!

Parents and Guardians:

The 2018 Annual Peak to Peak Family Survey is now available!

Each year, the Peak to Peak Accountability Committee surveys parents and guardians regarding how Peak to Peak is doing. We communicate the results of the survey to the administration, the Board of Directors, and the Peak to Peak community. We report the actions taken by the school regarding the results of the survey. The Peak to Peak Family Survey is your opportunity to provide input on what you love about Peak to Peak and where you think the school can improve.

Important Information:

  • Your responses are completely anonymous. Identifying information is neither collected by the survey provider nor available to the survey administrators.

  • The survey only takes a few minutes for each child you have enrolled at Peak to Peak.

  • Please complete the survey only once, and have only one parent/guardian per family complete the survey.

  • Once you hit “Done” at the end of the survey you will not be able to access it again.

  • The survey will be available until midnight, Friday, February 2nd.

Your participation is vital and your responses are invaluable! Your past responses have resulted in a number of positive changes at Peak to Peak (follow the links below to find out more).

To access the survey, please click on the link found below or on the school website:

NEW CareerWise Colorado Pilot for Sophomores

Dear Parents/Guardians of Sophomores:

In case you missed the initial communication sent out last week, Peak to Peak has been selected to pilot a new apprenticeship and concurrent college enrollment program with CareerWise Colorado. This organization, which came about from innovative conversations with business leaders and innovative thinkers from the Colorado Department of Education, was initially designed to serve Denver Public Schools (DPS). Based on its incredible success over the past three years, the program is expanding across the state. Peak to Peak was selected as a charter of choice to showcase this program in the north central region. The program is looking for eligible sophomores to apply for the program. Students will have the opportunity to be full-time students at Peak to Peak, pursue online college courses, and work in cooperation with budding and well-established businesses and industries in the Hwy 36 and I-25 corridors. This is great news for our students!

We are looking forward to a parent-guardian-student informational meeting with CareerWise on Tuesday, February 6th 3:30-4:30 PM in the college counseling center. The most important things for students and families to know regarding Careerwise are:

· There is a three-year commitment to the program

· Sophomores in good academic standing are encouraged to apply by March 1st, 2018

· CareerWise program leaders will select three applicants from eligible candidates at Peak to Peak

· When the program starts in the fall, our participates will engage in paid internships in a field of the student’s choice (earnings of approx. $30,000 over the course of the 3-year program)

· Students will concurrently earn Peak to Peak high school as well as college credit (up to a full year of college courses completed)

· A generous grant is covering online college courses for our three participants

· Students and families will work with our counseling team to plan an on-time track toward graduation

· Peak to Peak will work with you to design a great high school experience while also partnering on the apprenticeship program and monitor progress each year (including getting student feedback and addressing any concerns or issues along the way)

We are formalizing this partnership within the next week, and need to hear from you about your potential interest right away. We need approximately 10 eligible applicants to proceed by this Monday, January 22nd. The application does not need to be completed by this date, rather, we are simply seeking interested participants. Please email or talk to your counselor to state your interest by this Monday.

We have talked with other high schools participating in this program and continue to be amazed by this opportunity. Once again, here is the Career wise website: http://www.careerwisecolorado.org/. Thank you very much for your consideration!

Sincerely,

Tracy Thompson Kyle Mathews

College Counselor High School Principal

Wild West Peak Gala Info!

Contribute an Item to the Peak Gala Old General Store!
Thank you to all of you who have participated in our Gala silent auction in the past! It is truly the parent items that are the most popular and unique!

We are looking for items for this year and need your help! Please consider asking businesses you know if they would consider donating an item to our school auction. It's very easy and most enjoy doing it! Many times it results in a new customer or at the very least their name is displayed as a business who supports local students. All donors receive logo recognition on our mobile bidding site and are listed in our event program. Please visit this site for more information including downloadable letters and forms. Also, donation information can be conveniently entered here including info on how to have items picked up and certificates made by our committee if desired.

Next Monday January 22nd Dine out at UTurn BBQ!
Take a night off of cooking and support Peak to Peak by enjoying lunch or dinner at UTurn BBQ in Lafayette (across 287 from Walmart). A % of all proceeds from the day will benefit Peak to Peak - including all dine-in, take-out and drive through orders. Visit between 5-7pm to purchase gala tickets!

Advertise your business at the Peak Gala!
We have many sponsorship opportunities available for this year's gala! We also have opportunities to include an ad in our event program. Commitments can be easily entered online or email Friends of Peak to Peak at p2p.friends@bvsd.org.

Purchase Tickets!
Get your tickets now! We are thrilled many of you have already purchased your tickets! As you see this year, we are trying a more informal format (no assigned seating), so we can't wait to hear what you think! Come try your luck at the Puma Casino or just come have some wild west fun! Grade level art projects are underway and our staff items are sure to be as popular as ever. We look forward to welcoming you all to this festive Puma event!

Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities:

Staff Appreciation Luncheons - The next staff appreciation lunch is next week and we do not have enough people to make this lunch happen for our staff. Please please sign up to bring something. It is on January 26th. Our staff LOVE these lunches! This is a great opportunity to meet staff in a very relaxed setting. One of the perks of helping serve is sitting down after the staff eat and enjoying a great lunch together. Each date below has a google doc link to sign up. Be sure to put it on your calendar! Please let Linda Willetto (linda@willetto.us) know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!

Elementary Talent Show

Parents we need your help next week to make the talent show preview day a success. We need at least 4 more parents to sign up to help on Wednesday the 24th after school. Please use the link below to sign up to help on 1/24. The Elementary Talent Show is coming up and we need your help to make it happen. Please see the attached spreadsheets to volunteer. Vanessa Bonner has graciously taken on running the whole event but will be gone for the preview day so we especially need a point person that day who has attended the event before to volunteer. Thank you for your help: Preview and Talent Show Volunteers

Middle School Lunch Assistance

We would love 1 or 2 more people to commit to a day of the week. The middle school staff would like assistance during the kids' lunch time. They would like another set of eyes on the kids before during and after the lunch period from 12:00-12:30. Please sign up for a day that you can do every week consistently. It is an easy way to volunteer and keep track of everything happening at school: Middle School Lunch Assistance
