NEW Dine Out at Chipotle on March 13th
Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Peak to Peak After Prom Committee. Come into the Chipotle at 548 W. South Boulder Rd. Unit D in Lafayette on Tuesday, March 13th between 4:00-8:00 PM. Bring in the attached flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Peak to Peak After Prom Committee.



NEW Not Returning to Peak to Peak Next Year?

Each year over the summer we inevitably have some students leave Peak to Peak usually due to a move, either within Colorado, but out of district, or out of state or country. These moves are found and verified at the start of school in August based solely on the fact that these students simply do not show up for school. As a small school, even a minor student population number change has a huge effect. It’s my theory that these summer withdrawals are undisclosed mostly because the procedure is either unclear or unknown; this letter is to help alleviate some of that misunderstanding or confusion.


If towards the end of the current school year it becomes apparent that your family will be relocating, or continuing your student’s education outside of BVSD, I ask that you send me an email and begin the process of a formal withdraw from Peak to Peak. Having said that though, please know that your student will not be withdrawn until the current school year ends unless it is your request to do so. Withdrawal paperwork can be picked up in the main office or I can email it to you. Withdrawal paperwork can be collected with a postdated withdrawal date; usually the day after the last day of school. However, text books, library books, uniforms, etc. must be returned before the process is considered complete. These steps will occur after general course study is complete, during the final weeks of school, but I would love to hear from you now to help me estimate these numbers. During the last week all accounts must be clear, uniforms and books must be returned, and lockers must be cleaned out as part of this process. There may be a delay in the educational file sharing with the new school if there are outstanding fines or fees in your student’s name.


If you think there is a possibility that you’ll be relocating your student, but are not sure before the school year ends, I ask that you let me know about this possibility. I will forward the withdrawal form to you for future use. You may also visit the main office to pick up a withdrawal form to use it when the decision becomes clear for your family. Withdrawal forms can be mailed, emailed, or faxed to the school during the summer. (My preferred method is email.) In preparation, please ensure that all accounts are clear, lockers are cleaned out, and that books and uniforms are returned.


If after the current school year has ended, you learn that your students will not be returning to Peak to Peak, please email me as soon as possible, and I will reply with a Withdrawal form and an enrollment confirmation form for the new school. You will then be able to return the withdrawal form through email, mail, or fax. (email is preferred) Please understand that if there are still outstanding fees or fines, there may be a delay to the educational file sharing with the new school until these have been cleared.


While we’re sad to see our students leave our Puma family we realize sometimes this can’t be helped. Early knowledge of these summer transfers will help us to finalized space availability much sooner, which will help with our continuing Open Enrollment process and a formal withdrawal saves countless hours, alleviates frustrations, and provides openings for new families to become a branch on our family tree.

NEW Lafayette Youth Poetry Contest


Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and ARTS! Lafayette are proud to announce a call for entries to the 2018 Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize for students in grades K-8. All entries are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 23. The Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize (LYPP) aims to cultivate and inspire poetry while celebrating Lafayette’s commitment to community arts. $340 will be given out in prize money.


The Lafayette Youth Poetry Prize is open to youth (K – 8th grade) living in or attending school in Lafayette. The youth entries will be divided into three age categories, with a Spanish Language and English division at each age level. Cash prizes will be awarded at each level. All styles, themes and lengths are welcome. High school students and adults are welcome to enter the Michael Adams Poetry Prize later this year.


The finalists at all youth levels will be invited to read at a public event at The Collective Community Arts Center located at 201 N. Public Road at 2 p.m. on April 28.


Entries may be hand delivered to The Collective, mailed or emailed. Entry forms and additional info may be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/LYPP Teachers wishing to submit sets of poems must follow the guidelines provided.

The 2018 election for the Peak to Peak Board of Directors is coming in early May. There will be THREE OPEN SEATS for elected board members. Two seats have a 3-year term and one seat has a 1-year term. All non-employee school and local community members are encouraged to consider serving on the board. Any candidate for the Peak to Peak Board of Directors, in order to have his or her name placed on the ballot, must deliver a signed Peak to Peak Board Handbook at the time of his or her candidacy submission, which constitutes an agreement to abide by the Board Orientation/Training requirements in the Board Handbook. The Board Handbook will be sent to any candidate who is interested in possible candidacy for review.


Election Committee members for 2018 are: Tina Crist -Chair, Hank Dalton (BOD rep), Joanne Hyman (BOD rep), Michelle Anderson (Accountability Committee rep), Lisa Tracy (Accountability Committee rep), Jennifer Douglass (community rep), Kate Martin (community rep), Ethan Miley (community rep), Traci Schoeneweis (staff rep) and Terri Tarbutton (staff rep). In addition to attending the information sessions, you can learn more by attending an upcoming board meeting, speaking with a current or previous board member, and reviewing the Board of Directors' page on our website.


Once you have decided to run for a board seat, you must formally declare your candidacy by submitting to traci.schoeneweis@bvsd.org written responses to the following questions by Monday, April 2, 2018 3:00 PM :

1. What do you understand Peak to Peak's philosophy to be and how do you support it?

2. What is your primary motivation to serve as a member of the board of directors?

3. How do you expect to separate your parental and board member duties?

4. What do you believe to be the biggest problem or opportunity that our school will face in the next several years, and what skills or background do you have that will help us to achieve the best possible outcome relating to that challenge or opportunity?

5. Please provide a brief bio of yourself (150 words or less). It can include educational background, professional experience, and/or any personal information you would like to share with our community. A photograph of yourself is optional. Please do NOT include any links to outside websites or resources.


A preliminary candidate list will be published to all of the candidates on April 2nd after the 3:00 PM candidacy deadline. Candidates will then have the opportunity to withdraw from the election if they change their mind about running or make any edits to their responses between April 2nd and April 5th. Responses from the candidates who wish to remain in the election will be distributed by email to families in our Friday, April 6th Friday Digest and published on our website.


All candidates must attend our candidate question & answer session on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at 6:30 PM. Voting instructions and timeline will be communicated to the entire Peak to Peak community in May. Please see the attached Election Guidelines information sheet for election information, timeline, and campaign guidelines.

Dear Middle School Students and Families:

Thank you for your input and patience while we go through course selection for the 2018-19 school year. After Prom Donations Needed

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Lisa Walther and I am writing to you on behalf of the Peak to Peak After Prom Committee because you have a Junior or Senior at Peak to Peak and we need your help! One of the most anticipated and memorable events for our Peak to Peak students, the High School Junior/Senior Prom, is right around the corner on April 6, 2018. Student Council has a fantastic Prom planned this year, and as is customary for our school, our parent group is sponsoring the Peak to Peak “After Prom.” Did you know that on a typical prom weekend: 48 American teenagers are killed in vehicle crashes, 5,202 are injured and 40% of the deaths are alcohol-related? (DOT)? This year we are collaborating exclusively with Fat Cats on April 6/7, 2018 from 12 am – 4 am to provide a fun, safe and substance-free After Prom event for our kids. We are asking for your help to make this a safe and memorable night for our kids.

This event requires a significant amount of planning, resources and support. Over the past several months we’ve been working feverishly with local businesses and within the community to raise funds to offset a portion of the ticket price and to pull off the event. But we are not there yet, and we cannot do this alone! We are counting on the generosity of people like you to help us fund the experience and contribute door prizes geared for teenagers and incoming college freshmen.

Here’s what we need:

  • Gift cards to restaurants, entertainment, and big box stores such as Target, Wal Mart, Best Buy

  • Prizes such as backpacks, headphones, laptops, phones, coffee makers, mini refrigerators, bikes, comforters/linens, TVs, calculators, IPODs

  • Monetary donations to offset the costs and ticket prices of the event.
