ISSE Application Outline 6th/7th grades

The International School-to-School Experience (ISSE) is a unique international program for schools that provides for the exchange of thoughts and ideas through face-to-face contact with children from other countries around the world. It is non-profit, non-political, and non-religious in nature. The program gives all 10-12 year old school children the opportunity to experience and understand other cultures on a first-hand basis. It is an innovative approach for schools that realize the importance of international experience in modern school education.

Geometry/Probability Middle & High School

This course is designed to establish a central location for the discipline of probability (as opposed to an add-on to the end of the year of three straight algebra courses), while maintaining the integrity and essential topics of geometry.

Matlab course texts proposal 2018-19 High School

This is a proposal for a pair of text books that would supplement the existing text in Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations. The books are designed to be paired with a traditional text so that students can learn how to use MATLAB to do all of the math we learn each course.

NEW Middle School Dress Code

We have not changed our dress code policy in the middle school but we are open to an effort on our students' part to question it. Ms. Preston is open to discussing a change but the process needs to got through the proper procedure and can take time. In the meantime, we really support our parent/guardians' efforts to help students comply with the current standards. Below is a link to the current middle school handbook and the dress code can be found on pages 22-23. Please direct any questions to Ms. Preston at lori.preston@bvsd.org.

NEW Middle School Run for the Peak

Attention Middle Schoolers! Next Friday, May 4th is Run for the Peak! As with Peak to Peak tradition, we will all enjoy a fun afternoon outside and you will all have the opportunity to choose the activity of your choice including... Mushroom Ball, Soccer, Football, Dodgeball, or enjoy a walk/run around the track. The music will be playing, the sun will be out, and we will all enjoy a fun afternoon to celebrate wellness and our love for Peak to Peak!

As you all know, Run for the Peak is a fundraising event for our school. Today MS students will be receiving a flyer to bring home that has all the information if your family would like to make a donation to support your grade - and our plans to purchase new outdoor equipment for all to enjoy during lunch and other outdoor times. We are also hoping to purchase a Gaga ball pit! CHECK OUT THIS VERY EXCITING VIDEO FOR MORE INFO. Each grade has a fundraising website - in fact, you can also set up YOUR OWN website to send to friends and family to donate. Donations are due by May 9th. The 3 grades who raise the most money win a Menchies party! So, let's raise some money to support our school and have a great time next Friday!

NEW Secondary Spring Finals Schedule & Reminders

Dear Secondary Students, Parents and Families:

As we wrap up April and welcome warmer weather, we want to remind all students and families about our final exam schedule and how to finish the year in an optimal position for summer and the year ahead. Here comes summer break!

Consider this your official “heads up” that there are only three more weeks of regular instruction prior to finals examinations, and just one more week until College Board Advanced Placement exams begin this spring. Given this short timeline, below are the procedures we have in place for our students across the 6-12.

An essential element of our college prep experience here is to expose students to college-style final exams and the rigor of extended writing and problem-solving work. Given this, we intentionally balance the number of finals over the course of exam week to help students demonstrate mastery in each of their courses. Your assistance thinking ahead about our finals schedule, reducing conflicts with schedules so students have enough preparation time for exams, and helping guide your teens in their exam preparation will support their best performances. Final Examination Guidelines: please click here to read the entire article Secondary Finals Reminders
