NEW Have a Wonderful Break!

Dear Peak to Peak Families,

Congratulations on finishing the first half of the school year! At this celebratory time of year,  hope you are able to pause and take stock of all the wonderful qualities that your children have. As a staff at Peak to Peak, we certainly do -- the students inspire and motivate us to do the work we do every day! Thank you for entrusting us with their K-12 education.   

I wish you all fun, peace and happiness over the break, as well as some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Please take some time to unplug from electronic devices and our increasingly digital world and enjoy your relationships with friends and family members. There’s nothing more energizing and inspiring than authentic human connection, and I encourage you to seek that out and to spend quality time with your loved ones over the break. Take good care of yourselves, be safe, and I will look forward to seeing you in January.

NEW Volunteer Hours This Semester

Thank you to our dedicated volunteers for your participation in the classroom, at school activities and helping from home.  Since we began implementing our new process in October 2018 with picture badges and digital sign in we have created 277 Volunteer badges with pictures and puma lanyards and our volunteers have donated 1106 hours in the classroom and 768 hours at other school activities, 1874 total volunteer hours logged using the digital check-in system.
We cannot thank you enough for volunteering at Peak to Peak.  We encourage all our parents to complete the volunteer process and begin using the digital sign in tool.  We can already see what an impact your participation has! 

NEW Traffic Safety Reminders

Parents have contacted the office with some safety concerns in the front parking circle so we wanted to send a traffic reminder.  One concern is that there are parents/drivers with elementary students who are getting out of the car, walking around and opening their student's door and even sometimes walking them to the school door.  Please do not leave your car during drop-off and pick-up.  The other reminder is to please do not let students out of the car while in the "inside" or active drive circle.  Thank you for driving safely and patiently.

NEW Website Calendar Change Instructions for Families

Website Calendar Change Instructions for Families:

The website calendar switch is now complete. If you had previously captured iCal feeds for your personal calendars, those must be reset. Instructions for doing so can be found below. If you use Peak to Peak’s mobile application, you should reset all of the calendars. On some devices, the mobile app will refresh and the new calendars will appear. For other devices, you may have to delete and reload the application. If your old calendar selections are still in place, you should delete and reload the application.

To add the new calendars to your personal calendars or devices:

  1. Log into the Peak to Peak website and visit the course or classroom page that you would like to add to your personal calendar. Click on the link in the left menu to view the course calendar.

  2. At the bottom of the calendar is a “+” sign that says “Add to Google Calendar” when you hover over it. Click this button.

  3. Verify that you wish to add the course calendar to your personal account.

  4. Repeat for each of your students’ courses, classrooms, athletic teams, and/or cafeteria menus.

NEW Recycled Milk Jugs & Coffee Canisters Needed for Art Project
Ms. Mathes is looking for donations of recycled milk jugs and coffee canisters for a special art project.  Donations are needed by January 11th!  Please bring donations to the elementary art room or main office.  Here is a picture of what the students are going to make.

K-5 Early Release After School STEAM Event on January 18 12:45-3:00 PM

All K-5 students are invited to attend our next early release after school event on Friday, January 18th from 12:45-3:00 PM in the south gym.  It will have a "STEAM" theme combining science and art activities.  The cost is $6 per student and registration can be found on this Revtrak link.  Registration for this event closes at the end of the school day on January 11th.  
These events allow our elementary students to stay for a full day on certain early release days. Parents/guardians do not have to pick up the students who attend until 3:00 PM and all proceeds go to support our K-12 student clubs!  Please see the attached flyer.

Puma Cubs Choir Starting in January

The Puma Cubs Elementary Choir is starting up in January.  Our first rehearsal will be Monday, January 14th from 3:15-4:15 PM in the Secondary Choir Room in the music building.  We will rehearse every Monday that school is in session through April 29th.  Our final concert will be on Thursday, May 2nd, with all of the other P2P choirs.
Puma Cubs is open to every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader who enjoys singing.  Please sign up using this link.  The fee is $15, which covers music and a Puma Cubs T-shirt for performances.  We need a minimum of 15 students to sign up in order for Puma Cubs to take place.  This number enables our singers to have a quality experience doing 2-part music.

NEW i-Ready Middle of Year Testing

We will continue to share with all K-12 that January 14th is our i-Ready Middle of Year (MOY) testing day in the Middle School - Students will be taking the Reading and Math I-Ready assessments. The Middle School will be operating on our own schedule. Students who attend high school classes or assist in elementary classes as aides will instead be participating in i-Ready testing and the special activities designed for Middle School learners in the afternoon of the 14th.  Make-up testing for the MOY i-Ready will occur on Thursday, January 17th and Friday, the 18th as needed.

NEW Thanks to High School Volunteers
As we approach the end of 2018, I want to take this opportunity to thank each of you, our high school families, for your efforts throughout this year. For every teacher and staff member you supported, for every hour you contributed, for the events, activities and teams you supported…a heartfelt thank you. Your contributions matter to Peak to Peak. 
Next year will bring more opportunities to support our school. Please mark your calendars for the Peak Gala on March 1st and if over the next few weeks, you come across items or experiences that would be perfect for the auction, please consider donating them. Did you know over 90% of the items come from our families? We greatly value your talents, skills and generosity.  

Working with you this past year has been a pleasure.  Thank you again and best wishes and happiness to you and your families as we all look forward to 2019!

High School Pumas Got Talent!

Do you have a special talent??  Peak to Peak is hosting its First Annual “PUMAS GOT TALENT” on January 25th, from 6:30-9 pm in the auditeria.  It is open to all high school students.  Are you musical, tell jokes, perform magic, dance or something else???  We would love for you to participate and sign up to perform your talent!  The last day to sign up as a participant is Wednesday, January 9th.  Come show your skills or support your friends! Admission is $5 for non-participants!  All proceeds go towards the 2019 senior gift.

NEW K-12 Spirit Night Friday, January 11th
Come cheer on our basketball teams as they play Kent Denver at a K-12 "White Out" Spirit Night!   Our teams are asking fans to wear all white so we can show our school spirit in the stands.   Peak to Peak athletic games are a great way to support the school and meet other families - if you've never been to a game please come!  "Puma Dogs" and other food concessions will be available with all purchases supporting our athletic department and the Eats and Sweets ice cream truck will be there as well!  We hope to see you - GO PUMAS!

New Fingerprinting Process
You can no longer get your fingerprints done at the police station in Colorado. Colorado has decided to use a third party vendor to handle all of its background needs.  Going forward to become a volunteer at Peak to Peak you will need to get the paperwork from our front office which will walk you through the steps of how to get your fingerprints done. Each volunteer will receive a unique code that will pay for your fingerprints so it will no longer be an out of pocket cost to you.  If you have any questions about the process please feel free to email harrisonnicole@me.com
Volunteer Sign-in Process
We are super excited about our new badges for volunteers.  If you have had a background check and have been approved you will receive an email to come in and get your new badge with a picture and scanning capability. if you have your new badge we will no longer need you to sign in on the paper sheet at the attendance window. Show the office your badge and once through the locked doors in the south lobby follow the instructions below to scan into the computer.  The instructions will also be printed at the computer for your convenience. This is going to help make our school safer, more efficient, and hopefully make coming and going easier for you.
1. Use barcode on the back of your badge to scan in using the scanner.
2. Choose either An Activity or A Classroom
3. Select the classroom or the activity.
4. Before you leave the building after volunteering scan out so we know you have left the building.

We have a new Facebook page for volunteers. We will be posting the weekly update of what is coming up and last minute volunteer needs. Please subscribe to help make the page a successful tool. We have a volunteer board next to our login computer in the south lobby that will showcase all of the coming needs for the school.  Take a moment if you prefer to see our opportunities in person.
Volunteer Process
We will continue to request fingerprints from anyone who intends to volunteer more than once during the school year.  If you had your fingerprints done previously and completed all three volunteer forms then you do not need to complete any volunteer paperwork this year!  Please contact Traci Schoeneweis at traci.schoeneweis@bvsd.org or 303-453-4682 to verify your volunteer status if you are unsure.  If you only intend to volunteer once then you will be required to do the background check (not fingerprints) and the three volunteer forms each year.  Please follow this link to print them or pick them up at registration:  Volunteer Information

Volunteer training is online.  Anyone that is new to the school needs to view this before volunteering.  If you have previously attended or taken the volunteer training you do not need to do it again.  It’s a good idea for returning volunteers to view this as well.  Follow this link Volunteer Training to view the information.  It can also be found on the volunteer page of the school website.
